Fine, anyone has the right to ask for a recount...just be careful what you ask for. But has anyone REALLY looked at the qualifications and which person might be best for the job? I just wonder about a 25 year old man, no wife, no kids, no real "life" experience and he has continually run one of the dirtiest campaigns in the history of Arkansas politics. All you baby-boomer's that comment, would you have been prepared at that age to hold a seat as an Ar Representative without being influenced by lobbyist or outside pressure. Maybe it's just me.....

Plain, "I don't know how we do this, given the distrust that people have in government at all levels." (regarding electronic voting machines)

It's too bad that people have bought into the right wing's blaming everything on government. The first fundamental problem is being able to trust the manufacturers of the machines and whether their political leanings may influence the programming. The second is how secure the machines are from tampering.

Vote tampering has always occurred. You and eLwood have been around long enough to remember when the chiseled stone ballots were stolen and hidden in the caves of county sheriffs, when the totals didn't go their way.
Ah, but plainjim, there's a good reason voters don't trust "electronic machines". Because they are not trustworthy! Their votes can be manipulated/changed/altered so votes in don't equal votes out. There are plenty of computer scientists who have already shown how easy it is to manipulate the vote totals without leaving a trace.

Sue Scott finally won the race, eLwood. She will be a reliable vote for the GOP. As far as Benton County's voting problems, it seems to me we have been fighting this problem for years, as the country got more populous. It appears that our County factotums have not been keeping pace with the population. One problem is all the people who are requesting paper ballots because they do not trust the electronic machines. Paper ballots slow the process to a snail's pace. We need to work on proving to people that you can trust the electronic machines.

I don't know how we do this, given the distrust that people have in government at all levels.

then there's the recount or "count" going on in district 95 in Benton County. They've sent the votes to Washington County to be counted because they can't get the machines to work in Benton County. Sure hope there's a good chain of command over the ballot boxes containing the ballots.
