Thanks for reminding us about this little takeout spot, it had been way too long since our last visit. Yesterday the Boss said, "lunch is on me" & we ran to find a menu. 15 min. later we p/u a fried shrimp lunch special, steamed dumplings, crab rangoon, hot & sour soup, pork fried rice, shrimp egg foo yung & extra spicy beef lo mein. 5 of us happily shared & sampled everything, with some modest leftovers. The only dish that didn't hit the mark was the dumplings, but that might just be personal preference & not a measure of quality. The hot & sour soup was very rich & as previously noted, a touch on the sweet side. My guess would be that some sweet rice vinegar is in there. The kitchen made hot mustard sauce was a million times better than those little packets most places pass out. The pork fried rice was yummy & had some bean sprouts sprinkeled in at the end, still nice & crunchy & a nice addition. All the veggies in each dish were fresh, no frozen peas or carrots anywhere. I'm looking forward to many more trips for takeout.

Chinese Kitchen is my only repeat Chinese take-out location in Little Rock. Their Vegetables & Tofu and Chinese Vegetable Soup are the cure for any bad or stressful day. I've driven to the restaurant and walked out with a half-dozen orders of their soup, just to get me through the worst of a cold (and it never fails to help)!

On top of this, the staff are some of the nicest folks I've ever met, always greeting you with a familiar smile as they see you from the kitchen or front desk. If only they would customize their menu (an attempt to order their Moo Goo Gai Pan with Tofu instead of Chicken was promptly denied).

Don't go here for the decor or ambiance (it may be a good idea to place your order and head next door to The Pantry for a drink at their bar while you wait), but I agree with Daniel's article 100%; this is THE place for Chinese takeout in Little Rock/North Little Rock.

My first Chinese food as a child came from here, back when it was known as Leung's Chinese Kitchen. I still love their shrimp egg foo yung, but will have to try the Catnonese pressed duck now. The Fun family (that's how it's pronounced, at least) who has owned it for years now are wonderful people, and I am always happy to hear Mrs. Fun say, "Chinese Kitchen, can I help you?" when she picks up the phone.

Great write-up. Without a doubt, their pork fried rice at $4.65 is the best value in town. Solid chicken and broc..and the service is very friendly.

Been going there for years; just had the egg foo yung the other night, in fact. Sometimes we frequent a competing Asian restaurant that's closer to home (for primarily that reason), but we always come back here. And yes, call ahead. It's good, and it's cheap ... don't expect fast as well. :)
