<![CDATA[I know I sound like a broken record, but Jim Bray is exactly right. Why should the taxpayers of Little Rock be subjected to liability for damages when an officer is not protecting the interests of the public, but rather the interests of a private business owner. A cop is on duty 24/7, and if he beats someone up while working a private job, who do you think the victim is going to sue? In fairness, I have to say Little Rock is not the only city that allows this. I sure question the wisdom of it, however.

<![CDATA[Also I smell a class action law suite will be filed on behave of all of the past victims of Lt. David Hudson's actions once they all come forth. 28 complaints in the eyes of a jury will play big that LR PD looks the other way. I think the average LR PD cop with 20+ years has less than 3 complains on average.

<![CDATA[Well tax payers of Little Rock your tax dollars are going to pay for the lawyers to sort this crime out. Even through Lt. David Hudson was off the clock making some side money most likely drove a Little Rock PD car to the restaurant to work his new gig. How many of you have a employer that will be liable for your actions when your are not at work? Cops have a sweet hart deal of having a police car furnished including all gas and maintenance free of change and if they get in trouble their legal expenses included. I assume Chris Erwin has a lawyer that is going to sue the pants off of the restaurant owner that hired Lt. David Hudson. The restaurant owner will learn the true cost of hiring a cop without doing a background check. Some Cops are bad people too.

<![CDATA[In seems to me that certain LRPD officers don't know when to back off and avoid a confrontation. They must believe that backing off is a sign of weakness, and that the citizen they are engaged with will "win" if they don't bend to the officers will. The instances that brought about the current lawsuits could have been avoided if the officers had just walked away. Is this mindset taught or is it part of the cop ethos? These things give the entire force a bad name especially in the Ellington case, where the off duty cop/security guard became pissed when she felt the resident was being "mouthy". Is it LRPD policy to attack a "mouthy" subject especially one not suspected of committing a crime?
