AT&T is sending in their lobbyists to start the shutdown of rural wireline service in Arkansas. They've decided that it is better to eliminate wireline service and make everyone switch to AT&T 4G wireless, rather than sell the existing wireline service to a competitor that could keep it in operation, or even worse, modernize it. It will be interesting to see how the new legislators react to this plan, and how they will explain it to the voters back home. And how will it affect franchise fee revenues?

And Clean Line Energy is about to start their long easement march through Arkansas, from Oklahoma to Tennessee. I saw an interview a few weeks ago where the Pope County Judge said that was fine with him if they pass through there, as long as they pay "fair market value".
