The list of government supported infrastructure is mind-boggling.
Since finger prints are not unique, eventually we can expect the involuntary surgical implantation of RFID chips. This is but another instance of the 20 per centers creating the very problem that they rail against.
Ah, but Clay Pigeon, since I'm on Social Security, does the fact that I gallivant around so much, or alternately, save my money for one big gallivant every year or so, is my spending -- either way -- wasteful? After all, I do have my food and shelter covered. Do I really need to gallivant?
Costs of a private education should be tax deductible? Why can't you send your young'un to public school? They're not good enough? Sorry to inform you, but public education is as good as the effort YOU and your child put into it. Send 'em to public school, then sit down with 'em in the evenings and make sure they're working at it and if they're getting it. If not, why not? Be involved. You'll be surprised how much difference it makes.

On one hand it is cost effective to only pay the center for the time the child is checked into the center for the day. I'm all for cost effectiveness. There may be some days the parent would rather stay home with the child and a parent should be free to do that.

But there are cons to this.

Is it just the parent who can drop off kids or can anyone drop off the child? It should be the later, otherwise - why? Since the parent may be working and not available to take the child to the center. Maybe a friend has to do it for the parent. So then what's the purpose of scanning anyone's finger print? If the child is there, then mark them down as present. Otherwise, the program exists not for the benefit of the kid.

Only paying a day care center for the time the child attends can affect their operating revenue.

Consequently, if the day care requires a fixed revenue and the gov ends up paying for only part of a familiy's share in light of this fingerprinting drive, then it leaves the parent with the balance. The parent will either have to come up with the balance (which is assumed to be a hardship else they would not have applied for gov assistance to begin with) else they loose their spot at the center. Or, the parent puts the kid in day care everyday and it takes away from more parent/child interaction time.

In my opinion there are lots of kids out there today whose social skills and behavior could have benefited from more consitent positive parent time during the early years. The remedies to that are a whole other issue.

Saving money - good.
Creating additional low income family hardships - bad.
I'll default to preventing the hardships.

If you use and consume state or federally funded subsidies, why is it wrong that basic asset tracking be used to ensure that there is no wasteful spending. why is the government wanting to tracking this spending but not others? who knows?

Here is my question: If I choose to send me grade school aged child to private school, why can't I deduct that as an educational expense at tax time?

Why can't I deduct books and other supplies? they are educational expenses.

I don't believe Arkansas will got to a Smart ID, and finger prints are unreliable. your skin's elasticity changes with the humidity and temp does it?
