Verla, read Bernard Finel in the above link. I agree with him that the real sin is not the affair, but the con Petraeus has pulled on the American people with his "surges" in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Thousands of American lives are lost. How many limbs left on the battlefield?

The very, very sad thing is this story and the commentary by both Finel and Hastings would not make a SINGLE wave if the general had not introduced sexy-time into the equation. The MSM can point at that and ignore their dereliction of duty when Petraeus was building his very own pedestal. He really started believing his own hype.

It is sounding more and more like a clash of egos (the two women involved) over their access?, affair?, whatever?, is what brought the primary egotist, Patraeus, down.

This is a must read, a cold sober assessment of the general and his hagiographers. Lots of incestuous relationships amongst the military/media complex, the "success" of the Iraqi surge, the "success" of the war in Afghanistan.
