In the comparisions of the UA/ULM and ASU/ULM football games the obvious difference is that the starting QB for ULM was missing in the ASU game. As Durango pointed out, the absence of Browning on the field might not have been a difference maker in the outcome. What seems to be ignored is that this was the third consecutive ASU win over ULM and the two previous wins were with Kolton Browning as starting QB.

Will UCA never lose the stench of Lu Hardin? Just recently UCA faculty were asked to respond to a survey on transparency in the administration. At the very same time the board and president were shirking their own policies of transparency by planning to circumvent ethical hiring practices and faculty participation in hiring a done-for politician. Why hire a lobbyist if he can't do the work he is being hired to do?

If you speak in favor for secession it is anti American, pure and simple. I advocate arresting these people and putting them on trial for treason.

The ones who advocate for secession have no idea what they're talking about and the hell that would break loose in this country as a result. Everything would collapse: The National Football League, Top 40 Country, deer season, camo production, reality TV, above ground swimming pools, Billy Graham crusades, Daytona 500, Chik-fil-A and Western Sizzlin', mobile home production...these people have no idea the havoc secession would cause. *grin*

Texans really think the majority of the country feels threatened when their leaders talk about secession. Nope, and if they'd get out of their shell they'd realize much of the country could care less. Anytime Texas comes up on many of the blogs I read from around the country, people dump on the state. Arkansas is actually respected more, even if it is only pittied.

These secessionist idiots are so stupid they think that they would get to keep all the US military installations. When the soldiers at Fort Hood, the airmen at the San Antonio complex and the personnel at all the rest of the facilities vacate the Republic of Texas, the unemployment rate and the standard of living around big parts of the state would go in all the bad directions.

Oh and Texas? You would do well to remember that when the leader of Iraq got uppity and didn't want to play ball, he got his ass invaded, figuratively and literally. You can expect the same.

“HOW BAD IS IT FOR THE HOGS?”

UofA grad and lifelong Hog fan here. Gotta say, though, am thoroughly enjoying watching ASU football. Saw the Red Wolves knock out Louisiana-Monroe the other night. By a score of 45-23. And on national TV.

Need I remind that the Warhawks beat the hapless Hogs at WMS a few weeks ago? True, L-M’s injured Kolton Browning was not on the field at Jonesboro, but not sure he’d have made the needed difference.

Notta big Malzahn fan. But let’s face it: He’s got ASU on the move with a razzle-dazzle offense quarterbacked by a very talented Ryan Aplin. Gotta stout, well-coached defensive secondary, too.

http://assets.inarkansas.com/8987/asu-ulm.…

The Wolves (7-3, 5-1) have the lead in the Sunbelt Conference at the moment and could wind up in the Liberty Bowl.

Hope to eventually see ‘em in Little Rock twice a year. Truly wish it was ASU and not Samford the Hogs will be playing at WMS come September 7. SAMFORD. Can y’believe THAT?

Not sure Samford could handle Barry Lunney’s Bentonville High School Tigers. Ah, well. It is what it is.

Speaking of religion and the election . . .

An excellent interview by Rob Kall with Frederick Carlson on "The New American Theocracy."

You know. Like your St. Vincent and UAMS stonewalling.

"What the church and even some of their Evangelical allies are arguing is that degree of control should extend to sensibly secular universities and hospitals that are affiliated with them, but not necessarily controlled by, the church. And many of the employees are not even members of the Catholic Church or other affiliated churches. So, this is an aggressive effort to declare control over the very definition of religious freedom; not just for themselves, but for everybody who touches anything [of] which they have any kind of significant influence. This is really something extraordinary that we've never seen before in our culture, and it's a desperate attempt to reach out for control in places that arguably has never been done before."
“It’s not that our message — we think abortion is wrong, we think same-sex marriage is wrong — didn’t get out. It did get out."

I'm grateful to hear that they're (at least one of them) not in denial about what really happened. Their message and platform were heard and soundly rejected. Unlike many of the Randroid side of the Republic party, the socials (again one, anyway) understand that no amount of retooling and Luntzing will create a winning platform.

It would behoove the Randians to exit their State of Denial and begin the search for a platform that can be sold to the 47%ers. The search should begin by abandoning ayn to the dustbin of hack writers, where she's belonged since she first picked up a pen.

BTW, if 47% of the population are 'takers", how come it is that 51% voted for the Muslim, Socialist, Nazi, Communist, Gun grabbing Kenyan? Maybe some of the "makers" voted against their own best interest?

Maybe in Arkansas it is still possible to ignore the future, but as Jim said in another thread paraphrasing Bob Dylan, times are changing.
