As it is now, with conceal carry we are uninformed so don't have the freedom to make our own decisions as to just how "responsible" the person that has the gun appears to be.

What I hate is the idea of having to be in the unwitting company of people with concealed weapons with a "Dirty Harry" complex and no apparent brain-power to match.

Flyairplanes, I sure as hell hope the guy in the scrubs shooting across a parking lot yesterday is not your idea of a hero.

Yesterday KTHV reported the shooter was a doctor but did not identify him. I have not seen the doctor reference today though. Just that the shooter was a man in scrubs.

Since this is anonamous and all I can make a comment about the concealed carry permit process.

My wife recently received her permit in the mail from taking the class last summer. I was disappointed in what they taught her.

But wife and her father trotted off to Mountain Home to hurry and get their pistols before that election last week since they are convinced Obummer is coming personally to pry their new 38's from their cold dead fingers.

This "doctor" seems to have gotten about as much training as the wife did. After target practice off our deck I have determined if the wife is shooting I had better have made her pretty damn mad. The safest place to be is where she is aiming, nowhere else is though.

And wouldn't it just be a doctor who took it upon himself to protect the bank's interest? He probably has a plan in place to NOT be seeing Medicare patients in the future if he's not already cut them off. Anyone check to see if he had a Romney bumper sticker on his car?

Yeah, this guy can - and should - be charged.

But this incident really gets next to me. I'm one of those people who would like to shop, dine, transact business, etc., without having to worry about whether this doctor is in the same space as I am. Perhaps with one or more of my grandkids in tow.

Because with the exceptions noted in the law, anyone with a properly issued concealed weapons permit can carry it anywhere that a business owner has not posted "a written notice clearly readable at a distance of not less than ten (10) feet that “carrying a handgun is prohibited”. [See ACA 5-73-306 (19)(A)]

You ever seen one of those notices at WalMart or Target? Or Kroger? Or your favorite restaurant that doesn't sell alcohol?

5-2-607. Use of deadly physical force in defense of a person.
(a) A person is justified in using deadly physical force upon another person if the person reasonably believes that the other person is:
(1) Committing or about to commit a felony involving force or violence;
(2) Using or about to use unlawful deadly physical force; or
(3) Imminently endangering the person's life or imminently about to victimize the person as described in § 9-15-103 from the continuation of a pattern of domestic abuse.
(b) A person may not use deadly physical force in self-defense if the person knows that he or she can avoid the necessity of using deadly physical force with complete safety:
(1)
(A) By retreating.
(B) However, a person is not required to retreat if the person is:
(i) In the person's dwelling or on the curtilage surrounding the person's dwelling and was not the original aggressor; or
(ii) A law enforcement officer or a person assisting at the direction of a law enforcement officer; or
(2) By surrendering possession of property to a person claiming a lawful right to possession of the property.

The person who fired shots at a fleeing car should be charged.

But I wonder, do they teach people who qualify for conceal and carry permits that shooting a pistol at anything beyond say half the distance (or less) of a gas station parking lot is begging for an inaccurate shot?
