For a House split nearly 50/50, an experienced, respected leader like Carter would be a good choice.

Davey Carter will be tarred and feathered by these Shiite Tea Party Rethuglicans, led by Koch groupie Teresa Oekle calling the shots.

Carter had the audacity to say that Arkansas need to close many of the corporate welfare loopholes that both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have doled out to the friends. According to DFA, there are 121 exemptions and exclusions (otherwise known as tax breaks) to sales and use taxes in Arkansas.

The categories for those exemptions cover motor fuels, the federal government, media, low-income households, medicine, agriculture, aerospace, machinery, energy, local governments, schools, and non-profits and charities.

The problem is that Democrats and the media have refused to point out to taxpayers that getting rid of corporate welfare and tax breaks is not the same as "raising taxes," as you will hear the Koch- and lobbyist-own Tea Party GOPers lie about in committee hearings.

The worst example of this occurred earlier this year when Democrats refused to nail the Arkansas Truckers Association's ass to the wall after lobbyist Lane Kidd deceived the legislature into adopting a sales tax exemption on big rigs.

Republicans lied to taxpayers that by repealing the $4 million tax break, which had not even been enacted, Arkansas would be raising taxes on the trucking industry. Sorry assed Democratic leaders, including the Senate president, simply put up their hands and said that there was nothing they could do.

Simply by removing half of these corporate loopholes, which total $1.2 billion, our corporate-own Legislature would have more than enough revenue on hand to fund current Medicaid needs. It is no wonder that ass brains like Jason "Jive Talkin' Rapert has taken to twitter to label Carter as a traitor.

Nancy Smash is back as House Minority leader. The best part of the presser that followed is when she whacked off Luke Russert's arms and beat him over the head with them when he asked a question about her age, and suggested she might need to step aside for someone younger to move into a leadership position.
She knows how to handle whippersnappers and this particular whippersnapper got where he is, for the most part, by dint of who his daddy was.

This is the most "delicious" predicament I seen the Arkansas Republican Party involved in in quite a while.

Certainly, if Rice becomes Speaker, he is poised to fill most, if not all, chairmanships of House committees with mouthbreathing knucledraggers as chairmen...I'm talking about the likes of Andrea Lee, Nate Bell, Debra Hobbs, Meeks Bros., etc.

At least with Carter, you'd see some intelligent choices as chairmen (and perhaps a Dem or two).

However, I am not going to hold my breath. Instead, I'm going to pray real hard for it to happen! Please, dear God, have mercy on the state of Arkansas and the General Assembly in particular.
