Kurt Sims - the CBO estimate was politicized and should be taken with a grain of salt. The complexity of ObamaCare is mind-boggling, so the long-range models shouldn't be considered reliable predictions, although it is useful to look at the projected trends.

To answer your other question, no, I don't watch Fox News.

By the way, the CBO estimates that it will cost the government $9,000 to insure people through the health care exchanges, but $6,000 to do it through Medicaid. So the more states that opt out, the less "Obamacare" will reduce the deficit. Republicans refusing to expand Medicare are going to make "Obamacare" more expensive, not less.
Last I heard, and have heard it over and over, CBO projected "Obamacare" would reduce the debt, not add to it. Have Republicans lied enough to convince you RC or do you watch Fox News?

Excellent episode, and essential listening for anyone interesting in state government for the next couple of years.

But gentlemen, you miss an essential point that conservatives are making: ObamaCare will send the national debt to Pluto, with China as the beneficiary. I don't have children myself (as far as I know) but we are clearly kicking the can down to future generations, and I hate to see them saddled with this onerous burden. The better solution is to get basic health care costs under control with future technology and intellectual property reform.

On an unrelated point, Max has some nice observations about ginkgo trees.
