Go back and re-read Cobb's letter and you'll see that Preston has done a little neat obfuscation to make it sound like St Vincent has no options and that they're hurt that Dr. Cobb would even take a stand against their actions.

Cobb simply asked for a little extra time for the sake of his patients. St Vincent said hell no and we're legally correct. Cobb was right about St Vincent's lack of morals. St V. doesn't talk about what is good for folks; it talks about what is legal. St Vincent doesn't talk about all the trouble this will cause for Cobbs' patients; they just want you to know that they're legally in the clear.

Not morally -- just legally.

Interesting use of Stark and Anti Kickback regulations by Ms. Dedman in her statement on behalf of St. Vincent Peter Banko. I wonder if those apply to ALL St. Vincent Peter Banko dealings such as the lease for the Endocrinology Clinic, the now defunct relationship with Dr. David Lipschitz and the signing of all of the cardiologists. I wonder if St. Vincent Peter Banko and the PTRC would feel comfortable with the Department of Justice and the IRS sitting in on their PTRC meetings and reviewing their transactions.

Reads & sounds like a lie to me. Perhaps some promises made during the original purchase have now gone awry. The old time take care of patients folks replaced by bureaucrats? I would strongly urge that UAMS reject any offer of a merger with these folks.

Speaking of awry, a lot of news about continued state level rethugs trying to legislate women's health care to include abortion and birth control. Haven't heard a thing about vasectomy; wonder what St. Vincents thinks about that.

Federal Stark and Anti-Kick back apply to transactions being conducted based on Fair Market Value and based on a unbiased Fair Market Evaluation. Maybe Dr. Cobb should request an "arms length" third party evaluation and present it to the "PTRC".
