Yeah, great meeting you guys. I'm glad I didn't get too impatient and bolt when I saw that crowd. Those brick-pressed sandwiches (prosciutto and pimento cheese) might be my favorite in town, although I went for a more filling fried mortadella on Saturday.

What a great lunch! La Quercia prosciutto on a brick-pressed sandwich. Free nibbles of HAM's brats, salami, and a fantastic funky goat cheese that Dan and I both loved. A little bit of Diamond Bear Pale to quench the thirst. A bustling staff of friendly folk who didn't stop for a minute with their cooking, cutting, and chatting with customers.

Got to meet commenter Sammy, and thanks a bunch for introducing yourself, man!

Happy first anniversary to Brandon and the rest of the HAM crew. You make being a carnivore exciting.

Cecil - I just spoke with someone at H.A.M. and they carry whole chickens from Falling Sky Farms in Marshall and Farm Girl in Perryville. They're available whole, or they'll cut them up for you.

The last time I saw a "menu" from H.A.M. (list of meats available), it didn't show any poultry except the Thanksgiving turkeys they had. Anyone know if they sell fresh chickens? To me, that is the thing most missing from most stores these days. Back in the old days, at Corder's in the Heights, you could buy the whole chicken and they would cut it up for you which meant very fresh poultry from regular-size (non-steroid, etc.) chickens.
