I hope that Karen Marlatt gets the help she needs. No telling what she has been through to so manifest such a classic case of capture-bonding. May she make a complete recovery & someday be free to stop thinking of herself as a victim.
“Oh, the holiness of always being the injured party. The historically oppressed can find not only sanctity but safety in the state of victimization. When access to a better life has been denied often enough, and successfully enough, one can use the rejection as an excuse to cease all efforts.” Maya Angelou

Thank God I don't know Karen Marlatt. She sounds like a horrible person.

First, contraception is not always used for birth control and I and others like to help women that have health problems related to their menstrual cycle. Sometimes they have debilitating cramps or other problems that they need help with which is just as much of a health issue as any other illness, allergy, affliction, or pre-existing condition. I guess Karen could care less for her friends that have those problems. Second, it's tons cheaper to block a pregnancy with contraception than to pay for the prenatal care, the delivery of the baby, and the post postpartum care (it saves Medicaid money and it saves the insurance company money that we may be sending our premiums to). The lesbians utilizing contraception are not taking them to prevent pregnancy and to enhance their sex life.

Planned Parenthood follows the states' rules about parental consent. What's disgraceful is Miss Karen's implication that Planned Parenthood is out to kill people or block parents from taking care of their children. I find it pretty honorable that Planned Parenthood is there to help adults and children with their sexual health even if they can't afford to pay them for the services. It's better that young people or people with limited funds can get healthcare from some place that has such generous and qualified professionals. 51% of us think our tax dollars should go to such worthy causes.

Karen Marlett probably thinks nothing of our government spending $4 million for each predator drone that is used to kill people in foreign lands, and sometimes it is innocent children and teen-aged children and mothers that end up dead, but what's got her all in a tizzy is others having sex. Please friends of Karen, assist her with getting her head on straight. Tell her to tone down the name calling. There are places that provide counseling for free or I'd be willing to chip in so that she can get the professional help she needs. She and others need to know that providing sexual health services to people is not equivalent to paying them to go out and have sex.

Now, if you are one that still thinks it's awful that contraception might be used in order for people to have a good time and it infuriates you that the government might support it, well remember that the government pays for and maintains parks, playgrounds, golf courses, tracks, baseball/soccer/football/etc fields, and community centers everywhere. These places are for our community recreation and enjoyment and it promotes the general welfare of our citizenry. And tax dollars go to libraries where poor people might be entertained by a book or movie or music. So, if you have a problem with the government paying (or as you say, forcing people to pay) for things that help people have a good time, then ok but be aware of these other recreational services the government helps with especially any time you might use them.

Let Karen know that I appreciate that she wrote in and mentioned Planned Parenthood which caused me to bring to mind the wonderful, charitable services that they provide. I'll be sending $30.00 to them today.
