"Polls, however, show that a substantial majority of Americans feel much less sympathy for the plight of the ultra-wealthy and support higher taxes on them.

A September 13 Harris poll found that 73 percent of people believe that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

A September 20 Gallup poll found that people support higher taxes on those making more than $200,000 by a two to one margin.

A September 29 Pew poll found that a growing percentage of people believe that the nation is being divided into haves and have-nots. The percentage has risen 10 percentage points since 2009.

An October 3 CBS News poll found two-to-one support for raising taxes on millionaires. It also found that only 18 percent believe it would hurt job creation.

Even many rich people – and not just Warren Buffett -- admit that they ought to be paying more taxes. On September 19, Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, wrote on his personal blog:

I am not advocating that we raise taxes for everyone. I think that is a huge mistake. I do think billionaires should pay more. We have benefited the most financially from this great country, and it is the right thing to do to give more back in a time of need.
>>It appears Boehner is bending over backwards to get Obama his tax increases.

Boner's and your fellow T'baggers are getting their bluff called. It's a modest increase from BHO or the real increase programmed by Repubs in 2003 when Cheney cut the taxes for him and his fellow travelers. At least Cheney had the political savvy to make a subsequent office holder pay for his two wars. It was the chickenshit thing to do and so, well, so Cheney. Naturally the Village Idiot went along.

Take your choice. You want Cheney's knife in your back or two percent tacked on incomes much higher than yours?

"I became a believer. If you fast-forward, in 2003, where we cut the capital gains rate, the rate on interest, did the across-the-board cuts in the income tax, and passed by a single vote. My vote."
This is the best news of the week-month, only 2nd to Obama's reelection! The Senate just improved by 1% and as horrible as the last 12 years have been, I welcome that 1%!

I see where Rupert Murdoch's 103 year old money, I mean mother has finally died. Her obit is interesting. She was pawned off as a teenager to a rich man in his 40s which smells a lot like a Tony Alamo deal and which pretty much made her a whore.

"She reared them with what she called “loving discipline,” to discourage materialism, especially in the headstrong Rupert. She sent him for eight years to Geelong Grammar, a boarding school near Melbourne that imposed a military regimen and canings. He was bullied and teased and became decidedly unhappy, but his mother was firm."

Now we know why Rupert is so screwed up. One may think of materialism as being an overblown love for big houses and lots of expensive cars, but I think it also applied to the love for one's billions and Rupert has shown for 50 years that he doesn't care if he ruins the world as long as the cash keeps coming in.

Monsters don't happen by accident, Demint, Murdoch, Douche Boozman must have had at least one bad parent, maybe two. Crazy ideas, unless you're full blown mentally ill come from somewhere and so often come from home sweet home during one's formative years.

I'm just overjoyed that it's suddenly good to be a progressive, liberal, whatever label you like.....the pendulum is starting to swing back to the left and the human hating, money worshiping bad guys are dropping like flies. Sure it will take 10 years to filter down to Arkansas but it will be great in 2022 when it finally get here!

Yippy! No more DeMint on my pillow! Let's put the Dick Armey back in porno where it belongs and hope the worst for Karl Rove & Rush Limbaugh. Dave Brubeck must be up there on the planet Kolob pulling some strings for us!

I take this as proof that the old, white money-boys of the repub party, such as the founders of Heritage, learned NOTHING in the November election. Instead of leading their party back to sanity, broadening their base to include people of color, women, and, as of this week, the disabled, they are doubling down on their lunatic base.

Speaking of lunatics, the House voted yesterday to remove the word "lunatic" from the U.S. code. The one no vote was Louie Gohmert. As has been said, the jokes write themselves.
At least he was a true conservative and a Tea Party favorite!!! I am afraid that the Republicans will agree with Obama to raise taxes without Senators like him on the hill.

I was sad to read that Speaker John Boehner has been involved in punishing tea party republicans recently. Actually I have written letters to several of these same tea party heroes telling them that I have emailed Boehner encouraging him to listen to them. Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ),Justin Amash (R-MI), and Tim Huelskamp (R-KS). have been contacted by me before and I have posted things about them too. Unfortunately they were kicked off key leadership roles by Boehner recently. It appears Boehner is bending over backwards to get Obama his tax increases.
Well, that certainly should take any question about whether the Heritage Foundation has anything to do with real factual information or positions and shove it out the window. Most of us already knew they were a fact-free or one-sided source on anything they publish but taking the demented DeMint should remove even Saline's use of them as a "neutral" source.
