What part of my narrative being:

1) Establish health care as a human right.
2) Copy /establish a system from the very best of over thirty five countries existing templates who do it with far better health stats and far less costs than we.

do you not understand?

We don't need to shuffle ponzi costs... we need to cut health GDP by at least half to begin to get out of the most expensive least healthy slot in the developed world.

Right now the only framing/purpose in cutting costs is to enhance profit for a few. (See the wal mart link in my comment above)

No excuses. no negotiating with failed neoliberal vs conservative pricing of everything, valuing only profit.

      Speaking of cost savings....

Medicaid/Medicare-AAMC/BCBS payment initiatives, EHR (Electronic Health Record)-Meaningful Use incentives' objectives, Physician Quality Reporting incentive/adjustment measures (PQRS), E-prescribing incentives/adjustments, Patient Centered Medical Home requirements-certification, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) are all changing our healthcare system as we speak and for years to come. Provider incentives distributed based on improved outcomes or health measurements in patient populations and payment adjustments related to poor patient and measurement outcomes will be changing the behavior of hospitals, physicians, and provider organizations throughout Arkansas and the U.S.

So, have you heard of any of these? Do you know how much the incentives or payment adjustments are?

e-prescribing: http://www.ama-assn.org/resources/doc/hit/… e-prescribing and computerized physician order entry also help physicians treat their patients because the program watches out for conflicts with a patient's allergies, other medical conditions, and other medications. When a physician goes to send a prescription electronically straight to the pharmacy (no more problems with illegible scripts), generics to the drug or alternatives with pricing are also shown before the Rx is sent.

EHR-Meaningful Use: https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidan…

Meaningful use measures for stage 1: https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidan…

PQRS: http://www.outcome.com/pqrs.htm

PCMH: http://www.ncqa.org/Programs/Recognition/P…
http://www.workforce.com/article/20121205/…

ACO: http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2012/12/1…

Payment initiative: http://www.paymentinitiative.org/howItWork…

Health Information exchanges: http://ohit.arkansas.gov/Pages/default.asp…

one way to leverage technology reduce costs, healthcare kiosks: http://www.npr.org/2012/07/31/157678604/se…

Does all of these fit into your narrative, ES? Will we not see any cost savings from any of these? Will our fellow Americans get any health benefits from these? I don't necessarily like how this seems to be trending towards an overindulgence in computer centered care with all of the data entry, analysis, and tracking. I'm going to watch to see how it pans out. Docs and other providers will need to be aware when they might be spending too much attention towards patient data and not enough time focused, hands-on, talking and interacting with the patient. But for now, more technology for more docs is better than less computerized charts for the handful of docs that may be going overboard.

And this Wal Mart story reminds us exactly how and why "medicare" expansion ponzi is happening... for the profit of a few big corps at the divisive, unhealthy, ever decreasing earnings of the American laborer... not health care, not getting our overall costs out of last place.
This whole argument over "savings" reminds me of the other current big lies and false choices tied up with the fiscal cliff. Under all health plans from both major corrupt/owned parties we are and will remain a nation who spends double to triple what every other developed nation in the world spends on health. All for health stats which firmly keep the USA in last place from cradle to early grave... we are only fighting to keep this up for profit incorporated, not providing care for all.

Too ignore this while playing the ponzi's D vs R / State vs Fed / Profit vs more profit rather than establishing health care as a human right as a nation... a state might spend less here, but the private insured folks and feds spend far more... is an inhumane lose lose scenario which promises to keep us at or below the defining third world line of health care.

I hope legies remember many marginal hospitals which don't serve a metro area will be forced to close if Medicaid extension fails. Many jobs and facilities will be lost. Some hospital/medical personnel will move to urban medical centers and others will leave the state. We don't need either to happen.

I think they will be able to see the need and the sense it makes to fulfill it.
