My review of the “New” Mr. Dunderbak’s… Back in the day Mr. Dunderbak’s had some amazing food and the atmosphere screamed "Oktoberfest!”, it was little place with big atmosphere. I rate the new Mr. Dunderbaks a 2.5, just above "Meh" but a tad lower than "A-OK!’ It is just another fast food restaurant now. #verydisappointed

I loved Farrell's and used to have my Little League team along on my birthdays there (in our uniforms, of course). There was a huge sub sandwich called something like the Gastronomical Epicurean's Delight and of course the monster sundae, the Farrell's Zoo. Adored that place.

Now if we could just compel someone to re-open Farrell's (sp?)! That big bass drum they'd bang at birthday parties scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Good luck Mr. Dunderbak's!

Mr. Dunderbak's has such a special place in my heart and memory. No trip to McCain Mall in the 80s and 90s was complete without a Dunerbak's port-wine-cheese covered pretzel or Reuben sandwich. In fact, the restaurant's convenient location close to a mall entrance made it easy run inside for a "to go" order.

I was terribly saddened when it closed; I was shocked and ELATED when I read it was coming back under ownership of the same family. I'm happy the menu has been expanded to meet the needs of more diners with veggie and gluten-free options. I cannot wait to visit and sink my teeth into a pretzel.

Editorial: The year 2012 has brought to phoenix-like rebirth two restaurants that hold important places in my sentimental memory. Mr. Dunderbak's is one and The Packet House (Grill) is the other. When I visited the reopened and revived Packet House earlier this year, I literally got choked up. I won't be surprised if the same thing happens when I visit Mr. Dunderbak's. Thank you, Richard and Laura!
