I had the hawgs beating bama in OT. And as Anthoney Bordain always says, "pork rules". And if you think I'm about half crazy, well...........

"Pressuring Israel to do the right thing

The Middle East, riven by wars, religious intolerance, ethnic rivalries, fundamentalist ignorance, suicide bombers, and political instability, all mixed with precious oil, big money, Israel's nuclear arsenal, and Iran's nuclear ambitions, is surely the planet's most volatile neighborhood. Central to this tinderbox, and to the prospects for a better world, is the Israeli-Palestinian rivalry. It's a rivalry too important to entrust to Israel and Palestine alone, for it's tentacles reach 'round the world and into all our homes in the form of oil crises, US wars, and nuclear weapons threats.
SPRINGDALE — The great-grandparents of a child who died in a car in the Walmart parking lot appealed their conviction to Washington County Circuit Court.

William Staten, 51, and Margette Staten, 61, were found guilty Dec. 6 of misdemeanor negligent homicide in Springdale District Court. Judge Ernest Cate sentenced them each to one year in jail.

The couple filed their appeals on Monday, said Joel Huggins, their attorney. They had until Tuesday to file.

“It’s not a surprise they appealed,” said Jon Nelson, deputy city attorney. “They were sentenced to the maximum jail time.”

The maximum sentence is one year in jail and a fine of $2,500. Cate did not fine the Statens, but levied $100 in court costs.
Apparently, banks don't run Germany

"Police raid Deutsche HQ in tax probe
...
Two of Deutsche Bank’s top executives have been drawn into a tax fraud inquiry by German prosecutors, casting further dark clouds over the country’s largest bank.
Police and investigators raided the bank’s headquarters as part of a probe into tax evasion, money laundering and obstruction

The extensive operation – which prosecutors said involved some 500 officials across Germany – widens the scope of a long-running investigation into tax fraud over trading carbon emissions permits.

Six people were jailed in Germany last year for their part in a trading scheme to create transactions to evade almost €300m of VAT on carbon permits, with the judge in the case criticising Deutsche for its role in how the permits were traded.
Prosecutors said on Wednesday their investigations involved 25 employees of what they referred to as a “large German bank”. They said they suspected staff of having withheld evidence.
