Yup, Establish fiber affordable internet/ tech infrastructure among the entire city/state first. This is like buying a fancy new bathroom and calling yourself a plumbing specialist before you even have running water/sewage in every home/office. For sole benefit of a few rich folk/companies to feed off the pubic school and taxpayers teet endlessly.

On internet infrastructure we as a city/state/nation are already decades behind.

It was the only site left that made any sense. Of course it had to be eliminated first.

I love this whole emperor's new clothes approach to this project where everyone just continues to pretend that LR is in need of a Tech Park that will thrive and create jobs and growth. Too funny.

couldn't be better--the reason for locating the tech park within close proximity to the universities has been repeatedly stated, and was stated once more in Leslie's article above. It has nothing to do with "drop-ins from the Board" or "where the executives are." It has only to do with the ability for the researchers (professors, grad students, etc) who will be employed at the tech park to easily and quickly go from campus to the tech park and back to the campus.

I'm not saying that this couldn't be accomplished at the John Barrow sight, but the distance makes it more challenging.

"But the board liked the fact that it's a clean slate — only woods and no structures to be removed and on a major thoroughfare"

Just clear out those pesky trees and leave those vacant lots and buildings on the other sites in their beautiful natural state. Why clean up something that’s an eyesore when you can just rip down one more forested area and start fresh? Since we're on that train of thought, I'm sure there's still a wooded hillside left somewhere in West Little Rock that we could just level and put it out there. Awesome thinking. Just Awesome.

"And we want the Walmart rule for our legislators? Sounds like that is a low standard. How about we make the legislators live on the Medicaid max for their family situation?"

While the exalted members of the Board I am sure have coveted close-in parking spaces, most people at UAMS, UALR, or Children's have to walk longer than the drive on I-630 would be to the John Barrow site. I do not understand why their time is so much more important than the proximity to the airport or major roadways. And if I had an operation there, I certainly wouldn't want to have frequent drop-ins from teh Board. I think they have a much greater impression of their importance than a prospective tenant would want or be willing to accept.

I built a $70 million dollar pharmaceutical pklant 23 miles from where the old plant was located and the idea of proximity to where the current executives were located was NEVER a consideration. This is as much a smoke screen as that a 7% max state income tax keeps the state from rolling in busineese aiting to come so they can roll in the cash in the minds of Republicans.
