I would recommend the LRSD and all stakeholders take this opportunity to expand the bullying discussions to include all races. Because I can assure them, the Black on White bullying is thriving and unchecked in the LRSD schools.

Role swapping is not an acceptable means to correct the atrocities against African American students in the LRSD from past decades. If LRSD administrators need a reminder of those dysfunctional times, then I recommend a field trip to a school in Harrison or Searcy for the day.

Asa Hutchinson ahead in any statewide poll. It blows my mind. Here is a failed politician who has lost three statewide races--for Senator, for Attorney General and for Governor--and he can still get that kind of support. The world has gone crazy. Asa Hutchinson has only won one contested election, out of six attempts. I can't believe the results of the poll.

Jesus still shines in the Ozarks. A beacon of hope for all travelers?

"This Christmas, just like every Christmas since 1967, there will be light on a seven-story statue of Jesus that overlooks Eureka Springs from Magnetic Mountain.

Two floodlights pointing toward the Christ of the Ozarks are scheduled to be turned back on around sundown tonight .

The lights were turned off last month - for the first time in 45 years - to save money on electricity.
.....
Private donors have volunteered to pay the electric bill and turn the lights back on at least through the Christmas season, said Keith Butler, chairman of the nonprofit Elna M. Smith Foundation, which operated the Passion Play.

Butler said the electric bill for the two 10,000-watt floodlights is about $200 a month in the winter.
I hope the public will attend next Thursday night's meeting of the Little Rock School Board and share comments about the anti-bullying/sexual harassment "framework" introduced last night. The bullying/sexual harassment issue affects every child and all our schools. The most tragic consequences have resulted in the deaths of students from suicide after being bullied. We are unwilling to accept placebo remedies for measles. Similarly, our children and community need and deserve something beyond a placebo "framework" for this situation. Let's help the School Board recognize that whatever is done to address bullying/sexual harassment of students in and surrounding our school settings must be based on solid research, proven strategies, and ways that are culturally competent, inclusive, transparent, accountable, and capable of being replicated across schools in Little Rock.

I made a crack about the capitulation of Villines and Central Arkansas Water to the developer forces during my absence. It is sad that the Kochs and Murphy billions and, most odiously, the Arkansas Farm Bureau, call the shots on protection of the water supply for Central Arkansas, but it is also wholly unsurprising. There's a figleaf of protection in what's still on the table -- presuming it can pass the Quorum Court. The damage will be long-term, by small but certain steps, sort of like the frog slowly boiling in a pot of water. My generation is probably OK. The next one and the next? That's another matter and always what these big arguments are about. People are too easily swayed by the likes of the irrelevant USGS report that raises no alarm about the next few years.

Regarding the DOG not mentioning The Honorable Ellen B. Brantley's name in today's article regarding the $20 million verdict against the insurance company for the Arkansas Children's Hospital:

Hell no, that "newspaper" (?) did not mention her name, because they still believe the circuit court (The Honorable Ellen B. Brantley) and jurors were wrong in ruling against the insurance company in the first place.

And now, to make matters even worse, all 7 members of the Arkansas Supreme Court (6 of whom are not named in the article) are just as wrong, even though the Doctor operated on the wrong side of a child's brain and the Hospital actively participated in trying to cover it up to the child's parents!

Shouldn't our legal system protect Insurance Companies from these types of excessive verdicts?
Went to the All-American Rejects concert at Juanita's last night on Clinton Ave, and have pictures up from the concert. They came on at 10pm and gave about 1 hr and 40 minute concert. Lots of profanity from Tyson Ritter who has recently admitted that his song "Beekeeper's Daughter" was a satirical look at how he disrespected women the two years he lived in LA (around 2008 to 2009) and that he had learned from that time that he was a jerk.

Judging from the way he spoke about ladies at the concert he still has a few lessons to learn in the future.
Max, welcome back. On the ADG cost increase, I told them after I refused to mail in the renewal that they weren't worth the increase since I was getting most of the information 12-36 hour earlier on my computer and they agreed to a renewal at the old rate. Someone on the blog had mentioned that if you refuse to renew at the new rate, apparemntly the callers are authorized to offer the old rate.
