Thomas - Please cite one instance in American history when taxes were cut for the wealthy, and things got better for the country in general...I won't hold my breath. As for "Obama's economy", we are STILL operating under the Bush tax cuts, plus the payroll tax cut enacted by Obama. Taxes are lower now than they have EVER been. Where are the jobs???

Gee, well if tax cuts create jobs, just where the hell are the jobs that the rich got those tax cuts for 11 ywars ago. Bush had NEGATIVE job growth over 8 years. The rich don't create jobs, People buying products they need or want is the ONLY thing that creates jobs. Anything else if a GOTP/Pope illusion, falling in line with your usual letters in the GoG.

Do you really believe that the democrats(libs) are responsible for an illegal unfunded war(tax cuts during wartime..a first), massive corporate tax rebates (going back to 1985, in 2001), Bushs' economic policy after 9/11 (go out and spend),

Ziman, You've been conned by America's corrupted networks and the Democratic National Committee! The war on terror, and tax cuts are a fraction of the long term entitlements committment and the tax increases Obama is asking for raises only a fraction of the revenue necessary to make them solvent.

But you should know those programs were began in the 1960s by Democratic controlled congresses. Most of Reagan and Bush's budgets were in deficit trying to keep with the runaway cost increases in Medicare, Medicaid legislated years ago etc. Anytime anyone tries to restructure them and make them more cost efficient the Democrats raise such a stink and spread so much fear the Republicans all back down. If it weren't for the U.S. tremendous borrowing power entitlements spending would have collapsed long ago.

The difference between Reagan, Clinton and Bush's economies and Obama's economy is in fact tax cuts. They created the explosion of jobs in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s in which the unemployment rates were between 4% to 5% with a deficit of around 300 billion. The deficit remains high because the unemployment rate is high and has nothing to do with tax cuts. For every 1 point decrease in unemployment the deficit decreases by 250 billion. Obama refuses to cut taxes and as a result the US remains in recession.

The liberals can't con us because we know better - we've studied the issues, but they can con their own people and you're a shining example of that!

eLwood made a good point about Republican legislators, particularly my state senator, Cecile Bledsoe. If it ain't in the Bible. Cecile is not going to support it, and I don't think Obamacare is mentioned in the Bible, even though it did say to love your neighbor as you love yourself. To Cecile, that does not translate. You have to understand that she has a physician husband, and Obamacare just might limit the amount of money he can rip off from the government.

@Pope...I read your entire post and am amazed that you can spout all that , then end by castigating democrats(liberals). Really? Do you really believe that the democrats(libs) are responsible for an illegal unfunded war(tax cuts during wartime..a first), massive corporate tax rebates (going back to 1985, in 2001), Bushs' economic policy after 9/11 (go out and spend), trashing of the constitution by the Patriot Act and creation of the TSA and Homeland Security (which is also largely 'unfunded' as well as expanding the federal gov.), the first round of TARP, where the money went into a dark hole and disappeared, the billions that disappeared in Iraq. Do I need to go on? Yes, the Demos are complicit...Clinton signed the repeal of Glass-Steagle and signed NAFTA. Obama hasn't kept his promises either...REAL healthcare reform (a system like Congress uses)? No, we get legislation written by your favorites (corporations), still handing out subsidies to the oil companies(who are recording record profits) that good-ole GW gave them and failure to repeal the 'temporary tax cuts' for the ultra rich. There is plenty of blame enough to go around, but to blame just the democrats is disingenuous at best. Lastly, calling the CATO institute a libertarian think tank is a real laugh. They are as believable as the Heritage Foundation and the federal reserve(which is neither). When it comes to stuffing their pockets and propaganda lies, NO ONE surpases the Repuglican party.

Pope, I've read that same line of foolishness for 50 years. It hasn't happened, never will and Keynesian economics made us the economic leader of the industrialized world.
Even the Right's coveted Ayn Rand finished her years on Soc Secur and Medicare after years of chain-smoking while telling her mass of followers that gov anti-smoking campaigns were a communist plot.
It just takes the sense and will to pay for two wars to bring us into the safety zone. Feds are borrowing because total taxes are too low. We're collecting too low of % of GDP.

It doesn't matter if the states are better off with their own exchanges. The fact is, U.S. entitlements are 80 trillion over promised and cannot be paid for. And because of abortion on demand and declining family size the number of taxpayers to support those transfer payments is steadily shrinking. Even if President Obama's economic policies were to recover the US economy completely, which the Keynesian model is incapable of doing, these programs are so far out of sink with reality that only the childlike mind of the liberal believes they are still viable.

The U.S. is currently borrowing 46% of its budget with 60% of that by the Federal Reserve. This is all similar to the Latin American debt crisises of the past and the current European debt crisis with Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Ireland. Sooner or later the borrowing will stop - when the people realize that their lives are becoming measurably poorer because of the Fed's policies effect on the declining value of the dollar.

Setting up state exchanges and increasing Medicaid rolls are nothing more than short term gimmicks that push the costs for insuring those people back to the federal government but only for a short time and as I said, the only way they can be federally financed now is because the U.S. government is currently borrowing almost 50% of its budget. When the time comes for the state to begin paying the bill the economy will not be better but worse - far worse. The state will then find itself in the same position as the feds - many more citizens on Medicaid that cannot be financed.

The U.S. is moving towards a type of depression that is best described as a no credit debt crisis. Not only will the government not be able to borrow any money neither will businesses and individuals. All government spending and commerce will be cash only in almost all states. The unemployment rate will be astronomical accompanied by homelessness, hunger and chaos in the streets - all compliments of the Democratic Party. You can laugh and scoff now as children often do but historians who study the decline of civilizations will tell you, when the collapse does finally come and there is no government to provide a safety net, and millions don't have a job or a home and don't know where their next meal is coming from, then they turn to the ones who warned them - that's when they finally begin to grow again.

I have quoted Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute many times on this blog and he does have some very good evidence that the Obamacare law did assume that the state exchanges would be put in and if they are not put in then Obamacare can not be put in those states with the federal exchanges. It will have to be tested in the Supreme Court but I feel good about our chances of stopping Obamacare. However, I felt good about our chances at the Supreme Court last time. In fact, I felt we would take back the Senate and the presidency too!!!

Here is a link to a post on my blog where I look at Max's comments on Cannon and then provide several links to past articles by Cannon.
This will evolve into a type of single payer as the years go by. We will have two health care systems in America just as we have two school systems in America, one public for the poor folks, and one private for the rich folks. Those with some brains will navigate their way thru the system well enough and the rest will be crist for the mill.

I would strongly suggest that our esteemed legislators get off on a better foot by basing their statements on fact not hearsay (regardless of who said it, or whether it ideologically dovetails with how they think.) These words are important: valid, relevant, factual and what best meets the needs of the people of Arkansas.
