FWIW: I don't Facebook and I don't Tweet. And I don't know the actual name of anyone who posts on here, unless some of the posting names are actual. But even then, I don't have the email address of anyone on the blog--except Max's. And I certainly don't have any telephone numbers. So if I feel inclined to respond to a specific comment, or to wish someone well, or send condolences, this is the only place to do it.

If all that bothers anyone, feel free to check dislike as often as you wish. In truth, I never even notice the like and dislike corner--on my posts or anybody else's.

Beyond that, Merry Christmas. And if that doesn't float your boat, Happy Holidays!

I would like to see required insurance on each and every gun, so the people who insist on having all kinds of guns will help pay for the costs from damages caused by guns. They can at least lower the costs to the rest of us that aren't so attached to guns.

Besides, the insurance corporations would push for safer weapons, perhaps ones that can't be fired by anyone but the owner for instance, or something I haven't thought of or hasn't been discovered yet. I know that some will figure out how to bypass this, but it would slow down the deaths from kids getting hold of guns at least.

As far as lines were concerned at my precinct during the recent election, razorblade, sign in was not the problem. During the time I was there, we had an hour-plus wait after signing in. Three machines were not enough and never will be when the majority of voters take upwards of four to five minutes to cast their ballot.
How about making things easier for voters rather than harder?
Oh, the fellow who tried to vote at his mother's address? He was weeded out with no difficulty, wasn't he?

Doigotta--the serial dislikers always seem to be at it--and so often inappropriately--when someone is expressing grief or sorrow or even posting a link to something interesting or beautiful such as ES did. NB seems to think we all are on twitter, facebook, or have email addresses for all of the other bloggers in order to exchange personal messages. I am aware of the identities of a handful of other bloggers and have an email address or FB friendship with them. There are many who do not wish their identity to be known so I expect he will wear out his "dislike" finger. I often personalize a comment I make on someone's post or on a post I make that I know a certain person will like. Dislike that all you want NB!

Max, the article about King's Bill indicated one provision was anyone could obtain a free photo ID from their County Clerk. Well I would hope that means any legal citizen of the United States who resides in that county. That would place a burden on the fragile elderly who have mobility or transportation problems which is why I suggested the amendment for those over 65 years of age. There is one new twist being overlooked and that is the new electronic voter poll books in which an Arkansas state issued photo ID (i.e., driver's license or ID card) can be scanned when a voter presents themself to vote. This facilities the process, reduces lines and is the trend of the future. What I believe King's Bill does is make life easier for long suffering poll workers who have to put up with irrate voters and the ambigious voter ID law as it is currently on the books. Let us either have a workable law or delete the nonsense about showing ID being an option (for other than first time voters). I witnessed a voter with a Missouri driver's license who was an admitted resident of North Carolina try to vote in Arkansas in this last election. The guy neglected to register in NC and tried to vote using his Momma's address where he was no longer registered. I seriously doubt it was an intentional attempt at voter fraud versus not knowing the law, as is most of what occurs. Having a solid voter ID law will do more to preclude innocent violations as opposed to planned voter fraud of the type seen in Crittenden and now being investigated in Mississippi County. I thought reasonable laws were designed to prevent something not close the door after it occurs. So with all due respect, your BS call is rejected.

Thoughts and prayers to all the families in Sandy Hook.

We have had evil people for a long time. The worst school disaster is the Bath, Michigan, Massacre

May 18, 1927, in Michigan.

This is the best raw history lesson I've read in awhile. Photos of each child and what they wanted to be. Beautiful stories. Would be an excellent way to heal. Some misspellings...but who's perfect

Bath School Disaster 45 killed and 58 injured

BECAUSE.....He lost his farm due to school taxes for the new school. Guess he had the last laugh He did all of this without a GUN.

http://freepages.history.roots...

He killed his wife, blew up his house . Drove to the school and blew it up, then drove downtown, gathered his friends around and blew himself and his friends to eternity

Without a GUN.

Can you think of anything that proves God doesn't give a FK about America like a whole school of dead kids? Next we'll be told the shooter seemed like a nice guy...kept to himself..total surprise he'd do something like this. Millions will pray which will not stop the next crazoid who decides to arm himself to the teeth and kill the innocent where they stand or sit.

American gun sellers arm crazy people every damn day. Whatever gun laws we have are totally worthless when incredibly insane people can buy all the guns they want and all the ammo they need to fight 2 wars off the Internet. 52,000 more mass murders like we witnessed today and maybe people who sell guns will start being a little more careful....tune back in 25 years from now and let's see.

Anything for a profit is our national motto. Arm everyone and it will be 1872 again. Let's be the next Florida and declare war on all black teenagers. Our problem is too many guns able to be purchased by anyone with cash. Selling ammo over the Internet is as insane as today's shooter. Let us have new rules saying the people who sell guns to insane people get 20 years in prison after the weapons & ammo they sell are used in mass murders.

America will never get better until the gun & ammo sellers are cut down to size. Like the nearly 70 year slaughter of innocents in Israel and on the West Bank.....I'm numb to it all. The best thing about today is no one killed anyone I know and love. But there's always tomorrow.

Forget towel-heads and illegal Mexicans, our greatest dangers comes from an out of control gun industry and the white loners they arm to the hilt. No one is safe no one is safe, invest in funeral home futures and body bag factories...no one is safe.

Razorblade, in 2011 when Bryan King tried to foist his voter ID bill on Arkansas, I understand he was asked for specific examples of voter ID fraud his bill would prevent in the future. Guess what? He couldn't cite a single example, not one! Please explain to us why we need laws on the books that don't solve any existing problems, but slow down the election process even more and may take some voters multiple days to exercise their right (yes, RIGHT!) to vote.

As a long time poll worker I can tell you the more hurdles you put in front of voters the fewer folks you will have voting in future elections. Maybe that suits your political views, but as a veteran I'm more interested in ensuring as many eligible Americans possible vote so we have the clearest sense possible who and what policies the public favors.

One other thing- you may have heard that voting is a right. The other activities you described as needing to show ID are not rights. Major difference! See Constitution, U.S., Fifteenth Amendment, Seventeenth Amendment, Nineteenth Amendment, Twenty-fourth Amendment, Twenty-sixth Amendment and parts of the Fourteenth Amendment.

When ReTHUGliconS in the legislature pass the voter ID bill early next year (given the insanity among Arkansas THUG ranks, I have no doubt they will do just that), that will be just one more sign Arkansas is going in the wrong direction.

Yes, Max, welcome back to the grand old U.S. of A. It is about as you left it. It is interesting, though, that we have a president now who is concerned enough about mass murder that he teared up and had to stop talking about it at this news conference today. I think that is unprecedented. I am sure that some Republican pundits will claim that is a sign of weakness, rather than of humanity.
