I knew a missionary in Mexico. For at least at decade whenever someone wanted him on the phone, they had to call the hospital and a runner would run the six blocks to his home and the two of them would walk to the hospital. It took about 12 minutes.

It wasn't that phone service was unavailable in the rural village, just that one WASN'T getting one installed without a bribe to the installer and one to the manager and the missionary refused to pay one and so remained on the waiting list.

I don't know how anyone does business in places like SE or Mexico without paying bribes.

Don't forget, there is that issue of what Walmart paid to whom in India to get their project to open stores under their ownership fast-tracked. Forget that moral code at the "buyer" and clerk level, obviously it doesn't apply at the highest level where the big money and bonuses are made.

If one were to believe in old Bible tales and believe such things could actually happen.....I could believe that God might send a new Moses to earth charged with finding one honest Fortune 500 Company in the United Corporate States of America and finding NONE bring down Giant Flood 2 or maybe loose gun worshiping crazies on elementary schools.

If someone took the time to go trace all the illegal practices Wal-Mart has been indicted and convicted of in the last 30 years....their motto would change to Always No Morals, Always Zero Ethics When There's A Dollar To Be Made, Extorted, Bribed Or Stolen.
