The post describes what part of the car Ms McConnell came into contact with, not if the fault was car or bicycle. The wording was poor though.

The preceeding lines did state "hit by a car" and "car collided with".

Cyclist ran into the right rear side of Ward's car? I'm going off the context of the wording in this blog entry.

Having experience in being passed by a lot of cars while cycling, Ward's car could have also cut off the cyclist after passing - in other words didn't pass with care. In other words, not making sure the traffic being passed was fully passed before returning to the lane of travel.

I'm doubtful the cyclist had picked up more speed after being passed, caught up with Ward's car and plowed into the back of it.
