SW, The Second Amendment wasn't included in the constitution just for those times. It was included for all times because there never will be a time in which the US couldn't find itself in an economic collapse such as the Weimar Republic and social democrats begin to argue the country would be stronger and the welfare payments could continue if there were a strong leader and the constitution were suspended. That's what happened in Germany just short of a century ago leading to the election of Adolph Hitler, WWII and the Holocaust.

There is a second great depression in our future because of the Obama economic policies and it wouldn't take very much public suffering at all before the journalists at the Arkansas Times and the secular socialists and proto-Fascists in the Democratic Party began to argue for the same kind of restrictions on freedom that led to the rise of the Nazis and one of the greatest destruction of nations and human life in history. Remember, approximately 20 percent of the delegates at the recent Democratic National Convention were staunch anti-semite, anti-white and anti-christian bigots. No thanks, I'll keep my weapons just to have a fighting chance!

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." People seem to over look the time and circumstances when this was written. The country was flat out broke! Couldn't afford to equip a standing army with arms and munitions. The British were still nearby in Canada, their Indian allies were still in our boundaries and what better way not to have to worry about having to fork out money that wasn't available then to give everyone the right to own a gun. That way these gun owners could be called up without having to be supplied with arms and bullets, that is if they answered the call in the first place. No wonder the phrase Summertime Patriots and Wintertime soldiers came about. We are the most gun prolific country in the world and that sad fact. It is estimated that there are over 200 million guns in the US and that isn't counting the military and police forces! I don't berate anyone for owning a gun but what is wrong with that picture? The NRA poudly states that guns don't kill people, people do, but just what exactly is a gun made for? It's only purpose of existence is to kill! As stated, I berate no one for owning a gun but do what is an AR-15 type weapon needed for by the general populace? Some type of control is needed on the type of weapons that are sold. Mass killings won't & can't be stopped but the amount of damage can and should be limited by the type of weapons that are sold.
