      <![CDATA[Heated arguments on both sides of the debate are boiling over in my world so I ask: Which solution is more logical? Requiring or even allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons or getting rid of assault weapons and ammunition? Add more weapons to a society plagued with gun violence and countless accidental shootings? Have I lost my mind? What is wrong with people?

      <![CDATA[A story from one my my 10 teacher friends. This teacher took time out this week to tell students what to do in this particular high school classroom if a shooting broke out: "Three of the walls in this classroom are sheetrock and will not stop any bullet," the teacher said. "So I guess the best thing we can do in case of a shooting, is to turn over our desks and drag them up against the only brick wall in the classroom, and lay on the floor away from the door. Hopefully the wooden desk tops will give us some protection." The students, according to teach, were stunned.<br>
<br>
Now, I don't know about you. But I think it's a damned sorry affair when a teacher has to tell students they may have to build a "fort" in class to hopefully protect themselves from someone with an assualt rifle. <br>

      <![CDATA[As a former (now retired) teacher, to all of the critics and naysayers:  If you think the teachers are doing such a rotten job and that you know exactly what should be done to improve things, step right up and get your degree and teaching credential then find a place to teach--there are still some openings here and there.<br>
<br>
Then, when you've done better, and solved the problems, and raised all of the students' perfomance levels to desired standards, tell us how you did it and volunteer to train others to do it the same way.<br>
<br>
We'll be waiting.<br>
<br>
It's easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize the players who are getting bruised and bloodied while you fearlessly--and without fear of harm--enjoy your hot dog and beer.<br>
<br>
"It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."<br>

      <![CDATA[The Facebook Wingnuts are jumping all over a picture of one of the dead teachers, the youngest and most attractive of them of course, on a fake cover of Time as the Person Of The Year. <br>

Now wait a minute! Up to today Republicans bashed teachers 24-7 for being union thugs sucking up all the money and just barely working. Which is it wingnuts, you can't have it both ways. <br>
<br>
And let's not forget that only yesterday a GOPisser said to the world that Sandy Hook wouldn't have happened if more men had worked at the school. Seriously....our Republican are as crazy as Lanza and they don't think we notice. Surely even dimwitted Arkansas voters are beginning to catch on that lies and fear are the only thing the GOP has to sell? <br>

They're mentally and morally bankrupt. They're trying to spin a giant problem they created by suddenly pretending to love a teacher. Funny how the only people they like are the unborn and the dead and the 1%. <br>
<br>
Still not a single word on the websites of our 6 representatives to Congress concerning the slaughter at Sandy Hook or gun reform laws. Is our Congressmen learning? Hell no!NRAssholes!
