Clay, really, no one is taking away your right to own a gun. Own one if you must. But unless you can provide us, and your local elementary school, with a 100% guarantee that NO ONE could EVER in any way possible get their hands on your beloved assault weapons, then put a lid on it. You gun nuts are trying my patience. Your right to own assault weapons ends right at the point when my child's right to go to school and live to tell about it begins. Find another hobby.

      >>When you purchase a firearm, you fill out ATF Form 4473 and MUST PASS a NICS background check. If you don’t pass, you can’t purchase that firearm period. <

Isn't it your class, gang, group, etc who claims that criminals don't follow the rules?

Apparently our clay pigeon hasn't visited a gun show lately. It's composed of "individuals" ya know and they are not required to fill out paperwork. They also account for 40% of firearm sales in the USA.

Btw, in case you weren't able to comprehend the news the woman who bought all the weapons used in the Conn school massacre did so legally. She just had failed to see the need to secure them from her son who she was attempting to have committed.

And the final thing clay, you have a greatly expanded gun access because of two or three people who sit on the Supreme Court and think the Second Amendment is an individual right and not a collective right. Since that may be difficult here's another former Supreme Court Justice who didn't share that absurd view:

In 1991, Warren E. Burger, the conservative chief justice of the Supreme Court, was interviewed on the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour about the meaning of the Second Amendment's "right to keep and bear arms." Burger answered that the Second Amendment "has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud—I repeat the word 'fraud'—on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime." In a speech in 1992, Burger declared that "the Second Amendment doesn't guarantee the right to have firearms at all." In his view, the purpose of the Second Amendment was "to ensure that the 'state armies'—'the militia'—would be maintained for the defense of the state."
http://www.tnr.com/topics/warren-e.-burger…

You see, there's something about the prefatory phrase, a "well regulated militia,"
that didn't go unnoticed by Judge Burger. Obviously, the 2nd Amendment was about military preparedness, not "sporting rifles" with 100 round clips in the hands of people who never have and never will serve in the military or be a law enforcement officer.

clay, you don't get to invent your own 'facts'. The only person reported to have been killed by one of the pistols was the shooter who used it on himself. It has been widely reported that everyone else was shot with the 'people killer', aka assault rifle. Why do you think even the gun folks called it that for years before they realized even dumb-ass Americans would take them at their word that they really are "assault weapons"?

The NRA is nothing more than a lobbyist for gun manufacturers.

Chief....you must have a pea brain if you think you and your ilk can take on the Federal Government in a war of secession. Have you not seen what we've been doing to sand people for the last 11 years? Pull out all your guns and start aiming towards DC and all of you will be goo by sunset. Use your head!

I want to take away your assault weapons in hope that by 2050 no crazy person will be able to slaughter 27 people in the blink of an eye. If they were all banned by 5 pm tonight it will still take many years to get them off the streets....BUT WHY NOT START THE TIMER ON THOSE 20 YEARS RIGHT NOW?
Why do we trust police officers with this type of weapon, and our government does not trust us? Oh that’s right, they are scared of us exercising our second amendment rights.
Police officers receive little to no training in marksmanship. As an avid and active IDPA shooter, I am more sure of my marksmanship, than that of a cop or door knob shaker.
These measures are band-aids. Until there's a change in the political consciousness of the Supreme Court all of it amounts to huge loud wind, signifying nothing.
Surely this generation of gun-rights believers will be the laughing stock and humiliation of future Americans. Guns rights should be about as popular with future America as public hangings and blood-letting are today.
Mental health exam for gun purchasers?

How about establishing health care as a human right with a single payer or tri care system which includes everything from dental, optical, mental health... instead of treating over all health like optional bling features on a new car purchase.

You want to address 'mental health' in terms of reducing dangerous violent tendencies getting out of hand you would be much better off at far better pricing to do it this way... rather than breaking it all up, no doubt privatizing... and trying to play shrink at a gun shop sales counter. If a person is violently dangerous.. society should want to know for many more reasons than just guns. ( drivers, pilots, policemen, pyro's and war criminals come to mind)

It makes sense to require a gun use/safety training course before a first purchase... and I think Arkansas does that now... except for those grandfathered in (born in 1960's or earlier)?

What's probably not known by many polled is that regulations worked well.. The CT shooter was denied purchase attempts. This person was going to do something horrible no matter what.
