I continue to be amazed that the City Board and Mayor are not recognizing the growing disconnect between the citizens of LR and their leaders. 1. All decisions are being made down the street at the CofC. 2. Security is a joke. 3. Planning to make streets passable and easy to navigate doesn't exist. (Adequate parking for businesses is one of the major jokes in development in LR.) Four curb cuts along major thoroughfares for every mom and pop strip mall or fast food joint is regarded as a necessity. (Makes for interesting dodgeball as you drive!) I never thought I'd see development in Little Rock so bad after we had the experiences of Asher Avenue and Rodney Parham. I was wrong. We are doing it again all along Cantrell, Chenal, Rahling, etc. Sure does keep me East of I-430 unless absolutely necessary.

No problem Stacy but YOU must admit you could have or in fact SHOULD have said 3 are from Ward 3 and 1 is from Ward 2 that don't live in west LR. I don't think it's a stretch nor an inadvertent mistake. A simple acknowledgment that some of your consituents have critical thinking skills will suffice. Happy Hannakau

The planning commission's planning consists of planning how to benefit real estate developers while screwing everyone else.

That mall at Cantrell and 430 is a superb example. The costs to citizens for their gas and time spent sitting in traffic jams that should have been avoided with good management practices are easily in the millions. All so that a developer could profit by moving jobs around within the city.

How many businesses were talked into moving into that mall from the Heights and are now out of business? I know of at least one.

It ought be be retitled "Little Rock Bad Planning Commission" and everyone on it should be ashamed of their work.

I think I would broaden my information on planning and development beyond a person with little experience in those areas other than managing some properties. We now have people in this city who have lived in other cities with strong planning and growth programs. Let's tap them and move away from 1950 sprawl.

Old Man: I'd absolutely support Planning Commissioners from every Ward. What I think is more important though, is a good mix -- of folks involved with real estate and development, and those that represent neighborhoods. Bill Rector, who has served for a long time on the Planning Commission, lives in Hillcrest. JT Ferstl lives in the Heights and Janet Dillon in Overlook. I'd welcome a representative from CVSS. And the only Planning Commissioner that I routinely have communication with is Bill Rector, through the Midtown Redevelopment Committee.

Stacy, you are so kind to admit that YOUR WARD, Ward 3, does have a disproportionate number of Planning Commission Members.

I wonder if you would want to post their addresses? No Capital View or Lower Hillcrest address among them are there? All three are high dollar properties. And while you are so, so forthcoming with a wealth of information, how about posting your three Planning Commission Members businesses? We then can all see how they are connected to the real estate monster that you support over citizens.

We know that you’ll never support the Planning Commission being required to have members from every Ward, you’d have to give up 2 and that would dilute your power.

I guess there's not much money being made by the Baker Building? I don't even know who occupies it. Seems a shame to tear it down to put in a [fast food?] place, though. When I was a kid there was a swanky restaurant called The Embers there. Flaming torches all around! Now it's gonna be a taco stand. Yay, Little Rock.

Did you take the time and thought to research where the really live? Did you happen to notice the address of the Planning Commission members who use their business addresses on the city webpage?

Ok, all but two live in West LR if you must know!

I don't have a dog in the hunt either way (I liked the Baker building before it was modified over the years) -- but if one is going to be making derogatory statements about public officials who put in long hours for no pay (planning commission members log probably over 10 hours of meetings a month) -- make sure statements are facts and not heresay hyperbole.

The Little Rock Board and the puppets on The Planning Commission (all puppets of the of the Chamber) have taken a "business" approach to approving everything. Unfortunately, for the locals who try to drive through this abomination, the business they chose as their model Walmart and their approval of store sites in Mexico. Enough money and things just get approved.

Unfornately for the Park Plaza merchants, there are also stores further out so people don't need to be inconvenienced by the back-ups at Chic-Fil and Mickey D's and Chipotle. I believe that Chipotle is a Mickey D subsidary so that might be why they were willing to help correct the Chic Shack issue.

LR’s Planning Commission is a joke! Planning, no unbridle expansion. When you have a body that is responsible for the city’s growth that is made up of realtors, contractors and related businesses, that are appointed by a city board of directors who answers to the CofC, instead of the people who elected them, you get pockets lined and deals behind closed doors which equals unbridle growth.

The Planning Commission should have representation by every Ward, not just two zip codes in West Little Rock.

The Planning Commission will approval it no matter what staff says. The board will approve it because they are the boot-lickers of the Chamber. Remember how Gene fought the one in his west LTR neighborhood and then fought for the Markham/University site (twofaced at-large director).

Then think about all of the people out on Rahling Road who got screwed this week while Deltic got their boots licked by the board. Until the At-Large Directors are no longer part of the board’s makeup, the chamber rules.

Oh, and who were the two City Directors who stood up for the west LR neighborhoods? Not Joan. It was the Erma and Ken, the two who try and look after people first.
