SkyPilot, nope, not too young. Same age as the girl in the iconic picture.

What i find so frustrating about all this is that so many of the gun nut wackos seem to think that crazy people can be stopped by predicting how they will behave. Armed guards will not make one iota of difference in the minds of the individuals who perpetrate this kind of madness. Crazy people do not think like normal people. That's part of what makes them crazy, though I use the term loosely.

I really don't see the need to expose extra guards to the school setting. Just change the school. Each school from now on will be constructed along the lines of a prison. Now I'm sure that a system of cameras, and guns that can automatically be fired like the guys who fly drones from other locations can be put in. I mean, why change the way we have been doing things. Just cover it over with solutions like the one posed above. Let's just all be happy in our beliefs that have no basis in fact and of course we wouldn't want to actually get together and find out what the problems are and come up with solutions to those problems. Man, much of this nation has no clue when it comes to thinking critically and working together with folks that may have different views. We still cling to the "my team's better than yours" mantra. I learned one thing, Wayne and Asa have no clue as to what goes on in good schools and the kind of environment kids need that foster learning.

Armed guards at all school bus stops? The assault weapon shooter moves to a movie theater, a mall, anywhere there are scores of people. Hey, NRA- see the common thread in all these scenarios? Right, assault weapon. Designed to kill large numbers of people and do maximum damage to those who may survive. The NRA clearly doesn't get it!

And Wayne LaPierre? I want to see his birth certificate. With 'Pierre' in his last name I bet he was born in France and isn't even a U.S. citizen. Deport him, but neuter him first so he can't procreate! How'd you like to be his offspring?

clay, the primary goal behind that effort was to reduce criminal behavior WITHIN schools among students themselves and for police to form positive relationships with at-risk youth. Yes, they were intended to provide a small degree of safety but were mainly to serve as educators, not enforcers. The NRA's dystopian armed guard plan provides none of those commendable ideals. It was a pro-active, preventative plan, not a reactionary, gun nut, armageddon advertisement for assault weapon sellers
Use the Tax Code to take care of this. The guns out there will still be there, but they are useless without ammunition. Thus, tax the heck out of ammo. The current stocks will be slowly depleted, and in the future they will become a luxury, to be used very sparingly. The taxes can be used for the common good. Just a thought.

dnelms, that's ridiculous and just what the NRA wants people to think. More reports of murders at churches in Pennsylvania. Are we to arm all pastors now? The accused in one of the situations? You guessed it. An elementary teacher. Where's the outrage from all the "responsible" gun owners? Why aren't they leading the charge to ban assault weapons and stop the sales of those ammo clips? All I see are post after post about a robbery thwarted by a 12 year old with a gun and by God, 'Murica was built on guns, we need more guns, that's the answer, more guns. Sick of it!

How many still believe "tobacco doesn't kill people?"

Gun manufacturers are in the position tobacco manufacturers were in 40 years ago. They still have plenty of money to buy legislators, legislation, and control in indoctrination venues such as ALEC. But the public is beginning to say "enough is enough! Your products kill people!"

Just as First Amendment claims failed to prevent regulating tobacco advertising and places where people can smoke, the Second Amendment ruse is not going to remain as the facade gun manufacturers can hide behind.

Use some of the same techniques used in the tobacco war: tax the hell out of them, restrict advertising. Impose the strictest requirements for carry permits on anyone who simply purchases a firearm ... at any site (store or gun show) and increase the "carry" prerequisites. Allow places to ban handguns rather than expanding permitted locales. Eliminate gun companies' special tort shields and allow victims to sue gun manufacturers and distributors.

It's a beginning.

I'm beginning to think that even the NRA knows how crazy this plan is. It took them a whole week to concoct this bizarre scenario as a diversion, a red herring, if you will, a way to absorb all this anti-gun feeling into their plan rather than having it directed into new legislation against semi-automatic assault rifles, large clips and the like. That way when we beat their plan down--and we will--we will feel like we've already won a victory but, in reality, everything will be back at square one. If they actually thought that their plan had any viability then they would have picked someone more competent than Asa to spearhead it.

I predict they'll be working the details out on this for months. They realize that new gun-control sentiment will likely dissipate over time if nothing is done. I think the best thing to do is just to ignore them as much as possible and get the job done now.

Maybe, I'm giving them too much credit, maybe they are truly crazy. With stronger mental health laws, maybe we could get Wayne the insane committed.

Kinda cool. If LaPierre thinks the media has been against him in the past it's really gonna start feeling like everyone is piling on. Maybe that's because it's got some truth to it.
The second amendment calls for a well regulated militia. Time to do some regulating.

The NRA had their Susan G. Komen moment on Friday. All thinking people gasp at what Wayne The Insane had to say in his press conference which was actually a gun infomercial. Even in Arkansas the membership in the NRA should start plummeting like a rock.

A better idea than putting armed guards in every school, a proposal that would cost over 6 billion dollars, would be to put a button under each teacher's desk that when pushed would cause knock out gas to explode in every room and hallway in the school as it auto dialed 911. OK, my idea seems stupid but light years better than what was proposed by Wayne The Insane.

And 8 minutes or something into the gun infomercial a nut in Pennsylvania opened fire in a church killing 3 people.....so be prepare for a big knock out gas bag to be installed in every church sanctuary.....how much will that cost? I dunno.

And when it's not safe for crazed gunmen at schools or churches, our precious precious malls will become the new favorite venue for bullet spraying. I doubt my knock out gas bag would even work at the next State Fair or at a Razorback football game, so you all put on your thinking caps to fix DEATH BY GUN NUT at those locations. I know....each of us could carry a knock out needle to be plunged in our arms at a sporting event when the bullets start flying! Oh, but that wouldn't stop the killer.....right....I see the flaw in my idea....but hey, you wouldn't feel the bullet tearing thru your body or see your kid's head explode, so it's at least half a good idea.

You know your in deep deep shit when Asa Hutchinson is called in to lead any charge. Mr. Unpopular only shows up when even crazier people need help. By hiring Asa the NRA showed they don't have a goddamn bit of sense. Wonder who in Asa's family is porking someone they shouldn't? That always happens when Asa start pointing his finger at others. And we know them Hutchinsons are a randy bunch of church goers.

Very few insane people in Arkansas get the help they need. My family is damn lucky that Crazy Eddie behind us was finally forced by a local judge to get mental health treatment. Not only can I sleep more soundly at night, but Crazy Eddie seems a lot happier now that he takes medicine everyday. No more screaming fits! No more hollering about them dam N words or Mexicans or neighbors with barking dogs. No more spray painted messages of hate on his leaning barn. He doesn't call the police 3 times per week any more. And he hasn't mentioned his AK47 in over 3 years!

We can live in this hell of our own making or we can stand up and demand the changes needed to give us easy lives once again. You can't arm everyone, you shouldn't. You can't allow rednecks to buy military grade weapons & ammo. We can't turn our heads and let crazy loners deteriorate until someone gets killed. I know it's hard and I hate to turn people in, but if every crazy person could get the little bit of help my neighbor Crazy Eddie got.....we'd have far fewer funerals for 1st graders. How on earth can the best country on the planet pretend to be so stupid about things that are killing us?

Why are gun hobbies allowed and pedophile conventions outlawed? Where's the LSD show in your town...where drug addicts can evade US laws by buying their drugs from dealers at the LSD show? Where is the national spokesman getting free press time in the middle of the day advocating more unprotected sex?

Gun Shows should be for admiring the best of antique weaponry, not for arming the insane. A friend posted on Facebook yesterday that he went all over Fort Baptist on Friday trying to buy some kind of high power ammo and the shelves were empty, not because the store owner removed his merchandise, but because they had sold out. How crazy is that? Don't you feel safer now? And who needs ammo for Christmas? Doesn't Jesus save?
