I think it would have been less likely that there would have been anyone left standing to get the photos WalMart would like to suppress.
Wonder why "discussions" with conservatives seem to come down to a battle between the First Amendment and the Second?

Wal-Mart's policy is utterly absurd, not to mention completely unenforceable in a world where every cell phone has a camera, and every customer has a cell phone. When Wal-Mart invites the public into its stores, it invites their eyes, too.

I cannot imagine that Wal-Mart would ever get a court to enforce the policy in the parking lot or among the members of the press. I doubt one would even enforce the policy inside the store

Doigotta, we probably share the same neighbors and I know for a fact there is no range within city limits in our town. And yes, guilty about geezerhood. I carried a weapon for over five years in the Air Police and thankfully only had to jack a round into the chamber once and that involved a captain not wanting to comply with a nuclear loaded bomber access identification requirements. Funny how that sound on a quiet night got his attention. I carry now because of having to spend time in inner PB and not LR Wal-Mart parking lots and pray I never have to use it. As for ozarkrazo, I can understand the need for packing in the woods. Afterall, there are all those defenseless animals that need shooting and most certainly protecting the honor of your sister so strangers don't get to also sleep with her.

Razor, the PB WM might be out because of my fool neighbor to the east lets loose with what must be a box of 'em every evening and several times over the weekend. I just hope they have a range of less than a quarter mile. I also wonder how he manages to pay his bills since this can't be a cheap hobby.
Uh, BTW, aren't you pretty close to geezerhood?
Anyway, to shoot a shooter would require drawing against an already drawn gun. AND sticking your head up to see what your shooting at. And you might hit an innocent car like that doc in west LR did not too long ago. Or heaven forbid, ME, on one of my occasional forays to WM.

That's it, we need immediate legislation to ban all assault weapons with magazines greater than five rounds and an armed geezer in every Wal-Mart parking lot.
In response to rainbow, if this Wal-Mart is anything like the one in Pine Bluff, they were out of the caliber bullets the shooter wanted to purchase.
The point of this whole stupid comment is guns don't kill or endanger people and kids, nuts or criminals with guns do. We can legislate the heck out of everything but under our Constitution all the police can do is be observers until they have probable cause; or, until the ACLU is designated as a terrorist organization. So why not legislate and control ammunition types and purchases, just like they now do for Meth ingredients. I would say require photo ID but then Max would call "BS" and claim the intent is to supress ammo purchases by little old ladies. It's been slightly over a year since there was another shoot-out in a Little Rock Wal-Mart (maybe NLR) parking lot. Now when my wife asks me why I carry a weapon, my answer is "Wal-Mart parking lots."

Hmmm! Seems to me that in leases I have signed with shopping center developements the parking areas, sidewalks, etc. are described and determined to be "common areas" and not owned by any of the tenants. Consequently, Wal-Mart would not own the parking area and can not enforce such policies.I am a small businessman and not a lawyer so I would appreciate the more learned in the law jumping in and clarifying this.

Wal-Mart has tried to restrict photography of any event on it's property nation wide, in some cases illegally seizing cameras or trying to demand the surrender of memory cards etc. They have no legal standing for the seizures but they continue to try to block coverage of incidents on it's property. - their ridiculous policy on news coverage

Wal-Mart's photo policy

"Wal-Mart's policy that all photos taken on its property must be approved in advance includes breaking news coverage, company spokeswoman Christi Gallagher said.

The company requires the media - or anyone else - to get approval before taking pictures in Wal-Mart stores or on Wal-Mart property, she said.

Asked if journalists photographing unexpected news, such as a fire, need the same permission, Gallagher said they do.

After hours, a journalist should call the company's 24-hour corporate hotline before taking pictures, she said."
