It is really sad that such a wonderful guy like MaXx Anderson was murdered because of as he said "his misjudgement of Andi Davis". As a person in Andi's group pulled back his jacket the night before and said "this is what happens to people that do not do what we want". MaXx told a friend that he knew they were serious. And he was scared to death. Anyone that knew MaXx knew he was so tough that one night when he was jumped by 3 guys outside a club, he had them all 3 down before the cops got there. This is not a man that would be scared of anyone. But this group scared him!

He went to Andi's house to try and negotiate and get out of the situtation he was in. He did not go over there angry. If self defense was there, it was on his part. Evidently they would not let him out. MaXx was a special guy loved by many many people! Please if you know anything that could help please call Dennis Morris, Arkansas State Police, Criminal Investigation Division at (501) 622-3689. Do not let Andi and Matt get away with this.

Also, someone might check. It was said by a very good source that Dustin McDaniels and Andi Davis broke up only hours before MaXx was killed. Could anyone find out from her cell phone?

JCJ, while you have to be a licensed attorney to be a prosecutor, evidently you do not have to be a licensed attorney to be Attorney General (different provisions of the Arkansas Constitution apply to the offices). That came to the forefront back when Warren Carpenter, a non-lawyer, was running for AG although he never won. All licensed attorneys who practice law in Arkansas in the public or private sector are subject to discipline by the Committee on Professional Conduct. Certainly government attorneys have been referred to the Committee the same as attorneys in the private sector and McDaniel is a licensed attorney regulated by the Committee.

Disagreeing with a public official's political views or judgment would not warrant any action by the Committee whereas a violation of a specific rule or rules of Professional Conduct could warrant disciplinary action. Bad judgment exercised by any attorney would not in and of itself warrant discipline. Undoubtedly McDaniel has exercised bad judgment but whether his actions or lack thereof violated a specific rule or rules warranting disciplinary action remains to be seen.

Brummett opened with the slightly wrong quote Sunday. I prefer the Kristofferson version: Never sleep with anyone crazier than you. As always, DBI doth project too much, but such does not disqualify his analysis. To sum up, Rule the First: everybody does everything to get laid. Why not? (Those who say proudly they've never been tempted have never been reeeally tempted, quel dommage ... )

Meta: Credit to Max for running with this, even at the increasing risk of Asa! Or is Max managing the damage control, in the guise of objectivity/solid reporting? Also, always an issue, Max has a special insight into the Arkansas judiciary. I happen to love great pillow talk, but sometimes I wonder if cites should be included--just for the record.

The bottom line is McDaniel is, or at least is supposed to be, in charge of his office. It really doesn't matter whether he actually knew the details of cases where Davis was opposing counsel. When he was having this inappropriate relationship he could have addressed this matter with his staff to at least avoid the appearance of any impropriety. It probably wasn't viewed as a priority at that time and it is disturbing that one would receive a windfall for not knowing what he should have known. Maybe he should spend more time with the attorneys in his office than making time with attorneys outside of it.

Surely ignorance is not a defense for a public official in charge of our State's largest government law firm any more than it would be for the head of the State's largest private law firm. Either the buck stops at the top or it doesn't--with power comes responsibility.

The bottom line is that no straight man is safe if a woman like Andi Davis casts her lovely eyes on him. Even in old age men are weak. Though women won't admit it..... their addiction to bad boys, a troubled woman is twice as sexy as Ms Stable.

I hate it and I still fight it to this day. You womens are too powerful! Bat those eyes at us and we're goners. I try to fight off your power by not shaving, staying close to home and being sure to hurt myself before I start any home repair job. I also pretend to not be looking whenever mag disrobes even after 30 years......yeah, I show her!

Men with bigger egos have more problems than I do. If I had legislated my own police force to drive me around....I'd really be a whore dog. If my ambitions were higher than just having enough money to bury myself when I die......I'd be in bigger trouble than McDaniel. Look at that face! (Pssst...Andi.....call me)

I would love to give a bold Christmas message that men have changed their stripes, but why lie? Us guys are more aware that the grave is coming and the truth is, even male winos aim to have it all someday....2 or 3 unwashed women around you at your hobo camp stamps you a man among men!

Even Santa probably has a couple of lovely elves winking and waving him goodbye as he mounts his sleigh tonight.....and busy as he is, sleigh mounting isn't really what's occupying his 2 century old mind. How you ever watched a reindeer walk away from you........makes me think of Andi walking back up her famous driveway...and I've never even met the woman.

We're sorry...oh god...we're eternally sorry! But we didn't get 312 million people in this country, China didn't get 2 billion without men who as little boys found something sexy while working the pencil sharpener at the front of the classroom...dang that eternal need to breed! I will try to be better in 2013, but don't hold yer breath.

Max - Do I remember correctly that when Judge Chris Piazza married Meoldy Piazza (at that time I think she was working in the prosecutor's office) he recused from criminal cases to avoid an appearance of conflict of interest? I realize of course that was a very different situation, and I understand that Ms. Piazza is in private practice now (and I am certain not trying cases in her husband's courtroom).

And regarding Mr. Ligon's previous action: I get it that the CPC wouldn't have jurisdiction over an elected official. But they certainly have jurisdiction over licensed attorneys (in their role as licensed attorneys) who also happen to be elected officials - as evidenced by the action they took against Mr. Clinton. So I am wondering if there is a requirement to be a licensed attorney in good standing to hold the office of Attorney General in Arkansas.

I am not advocating for or criticizing any position or person in this - the facts will speak for themselves. And I credit the AG office's position that there is no conflict of interest unless that position is proven wrong by the facts. But it seems like we citizens are entitled to transparency in the review of these unusual events involving an elected state constitutional officer.

It was the night before Christmas and not a creature was stirring, not even a nosey reporter. Dustin and Andi were tweeting to get their story straight for the jolly fat men of the Judicial Ethics Commission. The original Mrs. McDaniel’s grin lite the way for St. Nick and his sleigh while the current huddled with her attorneys with dreams of gold and myrth. Jeff Rosenzweig gave thanks if it were not for the Grace of God, there went him while Mike Ross and Asa Hutchinson joined in a chorus of thanks. Ho, ho, ho and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good job Max.

      Max:
In fairness, you should amend the caption under the picture of randy Andi and Jeff Rosenzweig to identify him as her former attorney. If you review the Docket in her Garland Co. child custody case, you'll find he had the good judgment to get relieved as her attorney around the end of October. I figure Jeff could see that train wreck coming and thought he would try to get off as quickly as possible.

I'm headed for more enjoyable things, so I'll close by wishing everyone Peace. And remember, as the song says "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me."

Some people collect stamps. Others coins. Andi collects men. It's not uncommon nor illegal. McD fell into that man-trap and fessed up without rally having to do so. The rest seems fairly contrived to someone with no dog in this fight. Surely on the Eve of one of our most treasured holidays we can find in our hearts something more resembling of charity.
Keep moving. Nothing here to see. Move along.
