eL....we have more snow than we know what to do with so bring a big truck and I will be glad to share. Getting up the mountain will be hard (impssible?), but that last mile up our winding little driveway where the ditches and the road are now all one surface might be a doozie.

We have been up and down throughout the night because the dogs are unsettled. The power has gone off and on a couple of times (which they hate) and the wind is howling, resulting in things going bump in the night, which they also hate. Our little 10 year old beagle is a nervous sort who constantly needs reminding that "everything's ok", and he doesn't seem to hesitate to wake someone up to hear those words.

The falling snow has stopped for now. I can see the lights of the little town below and a few lights up on Nebo. Those folks will have a challenge getting down off of that narrow winding road. That's hard to do even on a bright summer day.

I walked around and took some photos earlier in the evening during the worst of the storm, but now we have even more snow . I would love to sneak out and look for more interesting things to capture, but I am afraid if the hubby wakes up and finds me gone, he might panic.........but only for a second, then he would figure out that is exactly the sort of thing I would do. I'm just too lazy to pack on the snow suit, muck booots, gloves, hat, etc. I would need for this 22 degree night. So, I guess I will fire up the ol kindle and read for awhile. Just a matter of time before Bob the Beagle will need some more reassurance.

Cato.....I'm glad the folks in your area have a safe warm place to go.

YDD....no doubt we have! This is a small area and in years gone by, I too would float that river with my brother and his friends (they all played football at Tech). But I was not near as fearless as they were and didn't buy into the "if someone doesn't fall in, it wasn't a successful trip" idea.

Hackett....hope your goats are okay.

You are correct, eLwood. We are sparsely...but more populated than any county surrounding us. Max tries to give us help by mentioning Mena anytime he wants to gnaw on Rep. Nate Bell even though the Rep. doesn't live in Mena. Our latest crime was death by a knife stabbing by a 17 year old female. That got the attention of the central Arkansas news media.

cbb.....if someone were so inclined, it would be an amazing ski run....all fresh powder with no disturbance, with the exception of deer or bear tracks. Of course, that inersection with hwy 27 about a mile down might prove to be a challenge.

There is so much snow on that road now, it is impossible to see the ditches. We have 6"+ and it is still coming down hard and fast. I ventured out a little while ago to take some photos and by the time I got back inside, there were strips of ice in my hair!

I'm sitting here daydreaming about how much water we are going to get in the pond from the runoff when all of this snow melts! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!

Hope you are feeling better after your mishap.

The NRA can use some of its congressional bribe money and start paying for the damage, starting with offering to pay for trained police personnel, in every school in the country. Nothing less than a trained police officer who undergoes all of the normal training/retraining cycles. No war vets, shotgun soccer moms, quick-draw McGaw dads, or gun-toting perverts. Nothing less than a police officer at EVERY DOOR, after all, they had an armed policeman at Columbine.

BTW, good to hear that the ducks are safe. They are about to be pink-slipped if not already.

Snow switchover here about 5 pm. Been with friends and now tucked safely back at teh farm and animals secured. Ham and bread in the oven.

Mountaingirl, looks like a good ski run except for the sudden stop at the end. My outside thermometer says 31.1 but the trees are icing and hopefully we can keep the power going (but the flashlight is close by). Weather.com says high of 41 tomorrow.

The Webster, New York shooter yesterday who killed two volunteer firefighters and wounded two others is reported to have used the exact same weapon as the Newtown shooter, a Bushmaster .223. No big deal, right? We have to be able to protect ourselves when the federal government comes for our guns.

Wonder If the NRA and its spokesman Wayne LaPierre will announce that all firefighters must now have armed guards and the federal government must immediately pay for those guards as well as guards in every school the NRA endorsed last Friday. Will the Tea Party go along with taxpayers paying for all these armed guards? Is this the Republican's job creation plan?

Will the NRA ever see the common thread in all of these shootings? None are so blind as those who will not (refuse to) see.
