Even when the lights come back on, Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Rove) will still be in the dark! But, I do agree his kids deserve a better US Congressman. The one they have now should be doing time in a Federal Correctional Facility for engaging in criminal voter caging in Florida during the 2004 Presidential election

DBI - I keep my expectations generally low just for practical reasons. When I hear things like I heard on the radio today, I feel totally justified in saying that it is just not going to get better...it's just not. Ignorance is regarded as a virtue, and dirt-poor people have been conditioned to feel pity for billionaires at the mere suggestion that their taxes should return to 1999 levels. Simple-minded Americans are standing in line to buy assault rifles, when most Americans are not smart enough to drive a goddamned car. This country's better days are long ago and far away. It's not going to get better, it's just not.

"National polls don't reflect my state or district. Obama lost my district and my state—bigtime. Work together? Sure. But I wasn't sent to DC to rubber stamp Obama's spend/tax-a-thon. My kids deserve better."

Unfortunately national polls reflect that Arkansas is a backwards state leading the pack in pregnant teenagers and gun nuts stocking big arsenals. And a large Fox News viewership which causes our majority to elect idiots and Karl Rove tools totally devoting their time to the care & support of Wal-Mart and gun manufactures.

What is it about Arkansas that let us spawn the largest corporations on earth and the 2 most popular Americans in the Universe, yet also a population that is barely civilized, barely able to afford food for their table and totally clinging to their religion and guns? How do you explain that the same state that made the Clintons also made Tim Griffin & Boss Womack?

In my opinion what's wrong with us is a big load of ignorant citizens proud to be ignorant. Proud to stay ignorant and produce ignorant children. Rather than looking for ways to get off the Arkansas Plantation, they believe everything they're told by the Griffins of Arkansas politics. The dislike of black skin has turned Arkansas Democrats & Republicans into one big sad political party aimed at fluffing up the 1% by keeping us down.

We continue to nail down 48th place by rejecting unions and being willing to work for minimum wage. We are a reflection of what America will look like when all jobs are minimum wage after all the good jobs go to foreign soil which will benefit ONLY the owners & stockholders of heartless corporations. A Wal-Mart job will soon become our idea of a great job. Made In China-Made In Mexico will become our national mottoes and the epitaph on our cheap concrete headstones, more likely etched into the jug that holds our ashes since who can afford a real burial these days?

The Occupy Movement was our bet bet and we barely got on board. Fox & Rush told us they were commies, union thugs, unwashed hippies and too many of us believed it. But too many of us didn't notice that Griffin was a vote cager, that Womack is a racist, that Boozman enjoys helping sick kids stay sick, hungry kids stay hungry, veterans thanked now and then but not supported like they deserve. We failed to notice that Mark Pryor is dumb and his father-issues cause him to align with creepy older men full of bad ideas. Most haven't noticed that Blanche is showing her true colors these days.

We shop, we watch TV, we love the Lord and nothing ever gets better for us or our precious precious children and every sign says it's going to get a lot worse. I love you Arkansas, but you're a strange one......

John Ed has aged a little since I waited on him at the Texaco Station on Dickson Street in Fayetteville in 1957-'58. Glad to say I haven't aged any at all. I ran into him years ago at Oaklawn and he still remembered me. Called me by name. I always liked him. Still do. Good sailing, John Ed.

If you have $3.5 million plus in an estate and haven't set up an estate plan with a lawyer, you are TOO DUMB to be allowed to handle that much money.

Come on, folks, the whole Republican argument is just another of their "starve the government" plan to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. They start wars and run up deficits with Ray-Gun's star wars and Bush's "let me be a general" wars while destroying the economy with Bush's Depression. Raise taxes to get the government the money it needs to run efficiently and take care of what government dowes best-infrastructure, defense, interstate waterways, parks, etc. Don't privatize anything-just raise taxes enough to pay for it AFTER you cut the Defense Department budget back to the 2002 level.

Breah Homeland Insecurity apart and back into stand-alone departments. It won't add a person but get rid of the top side structure. Decide whether CIA or MIA is the intelligence (or lack of) arm for the country and combine and eliminate. Double down on regulation of Wall Street. Change the tax structure to reward companies who manufacture in country and double taxes and collect on those who make their profits by hurting the American people. No off-shore untaxed profits. If you want to do business in the US, you pay taxes here. And best of all-forget subdizing a 30% profit for the heal;th insurance business-Medicare for all with its 5% overhead rate and re-train all the insurance executives to be Walmart clerks. All income taxed at a single rate based on a progressive scale with a sliding surcharge until we have gotten rid of the national debt, what Bush 2 should have done instead of the stupidity that marked his presidency.

Tomorrow, we start on Europe's problems.

No thanks needed. Glad to help.

“Every time someone dies, we have to clear-cut more acres and sell more assets,” he said.
Anthony knows, or should know, that prior taxes paid on the same estate property become a tax credit to his current estate. Knowing what he did about his grandfather what was to prevent him from taking out a large life insurance policy on himself back then?

I've never understood the "small business" estate tax argument - I'm fairly certain there are a variety of business structures one could utilize to avoid estate tax on such a business. In fact, I'm pretty sure only a sole proprietorship would get hit with estate tax (although I don't practice that type of law). If you've got a sole proprietorship with a value in excess of $3.5 million, you really need to see a lawyer and discuss business structures/estate planning.

We are approaching another dire event in a few weeks - the Arkansas Ledge returns to wreak havoc at a scale the Mayans never anticipated.

While we wait in dread, we can delve through the expense reimbursements our House and Senate budget hawks suck in while blaming everyone else for being parasites.

On the Transparency.Arkansas.Gov website, choose the "Expenditures" tab, then the "By Agency" tab, and in the "Filter" box, type either "House" or "Senate." You'll get a list of the seat warmers and their reimbursements.

For background on specific legislators, you can use the House and Senate sites
http://www.arkansashouse.org/
http://www.arkansas.gov/senate/

Or you can use Ballotpedia for a general overview:
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Main…

You may think that this could be useful for lobbying trying to dissuade the Rube-blicans from making serious mistakes during the next session, but we learned during this year's campaigns that facts are antithetical to their belief system.

In anticipation of the grim session of punitive legislation, the only thing I can do is to remind you that there's a tax credit for building storm shelters or safe rooms.

Max, you have to have some pity for the Waltons, born like they were in the wilds of West Virginia. Oh, that's the other Waltons-these were born with a silver bribery check in their mouth.
