Grand daughters had flights Wed. & Thur. First was to leave for Atlanta early afternoon, and did not have extensive wait. 2nd arrived before 5 for 6 am flight, which was first slightly delayed, then boarding shortly, but finally boarding after 9 pm for DC.
Meanwhile, power, land lines, internet & cable left. Power after 52 hours. Cable after 64 hours, but out again for 12 hours, then lost again last night for 12 hours. TracFone is a pain. Freezer food lost. Garbage pickup will be huge on Monday. Meanwhile missing two funerals. Daughter's pup died after 16 years. Christmas was quiet after big birthdays. And sad.

Nothing near as glamorous as air travel, but the trash truck did make it up the mountain this morning around 6:00 am. The hubby went out to take them something warm to eat to thank them for venturing out in the fog and snow to take away our Christmas refuse. They told him tales of accidents and mishaps down below. One of the guys took a tumble so hard his hat landed 20 feet away and he is having to wait for the snow to melt to find his keys.

We waited for the sun to come up then drove down the mountain in the tracks generously left by the huge trash truck. We collected several days of mail then went to the grocery store where it took twice as long to shop because everyone there had a story to share.

The fog is so thick up here it feels as though we are living in a cloud. My big guard dog doesn’t look as menacing wearing his sky blue jacket, snuggled deep into the three sleeping bags piled up in his dog house. I have a feeling he has an imaginary “OFF DUTY” sign over his door. Water is pouring out of the gutters, a welcome sign the snow on the roof is melting. We visited the large corn feeder in the woods by the pond this morning and found lots of tracks and corn scattered about on the ground. I want to believe the animals who could reach it climbed in and shoveled it out for those who couldn’t.
