commonsense, re "Republicans have winning arguments on fiscal and economic issues"- I assume those would include holding the federal government hostage like a 2-year-old unless they get their way by refusing to raise the debt ceiling even though those same Republicans have already approved budgets to spend money they don't intend to repay and casually increased the debt ceiling numerous times under a Republican president? And by threatening to default on federal debt forcing the interest rates on borrowed money to go up, costing American taxpayers untold billions in additional interest (read: taxes)? And increasing expenditures to the tune of trillions of dollars (see: off budget and unfunded wars, Iraq and Afghanistan, unfunded Medicare drug plan, etc.) while decrying increasing federal expenditures?

Unrelated to anyone's posts- has anyone seen an accounting of federal government assets to compare to the national debt? I mean we the people own millions of acres of land, untold numbers of buildings and other assets. What are they worth versus the debt? Surplus? Net deficit? What?

Commonsense, we all do! All the work the state does to try and bring in higher paying jobs and one nut making national headlines takes the state's image back 50 years. And your kids and their kids will have to leave teh state to find jobs somnce they get their degree. If you don't think image counts, ask any large company how hard it is to recruit creative computer personnel to work if their assignment location is Arkansas.

Might want to bank the money for the Tech Park for a few decades if this is the way the GOP plans to run government (maybe they should shut their mouths and show that they actually can make government work since their track record in Washington isn't anything to brag about).

As a republican who wants to see the party grow and survive in the future I call upon the people of Conway to primary this dickhead and get him out the headlines. Nothing Rapert has done has helped advance the party and will only hurt republicans in the future.

The national party has figured this out but unfortunately the arkansas GOP is stuck in the past on all social issues. Republicans have winning arguments on fiscal and economic issues but continue to shoot ourselves in the foot when it comes to social issues and foreign policy, and it frustrates the hell out of me. I groan everytime I hear the words "senator Jason Rapert".

Avoid extra-long doobies. Put it aside for awhile. Most pro-choice Demos in Ark have been replaced by Republicans. Think Blanche. Difficult for you to grasp but we're confident it will once the smoke clears. There's a few pro-choice Demos in state lege from L.R. and Fayetteville.

How's Bryan King working out as Your state senator? Looking forward to his pro choice votes? His voter ID amendment? I'm sure you're looking fwd to his representation since there wasn't a Demo pure enough to serve you. You're gonna love Boss Womack as U.S. Senator come '14. By gawd, he's "pure, unadulterated" Repub, a purity only ES can fathom.

Perhaps I am wrong... maybe y'all are anti choice and vote D because of it. Though you don't admit it... and slay any right winger who's honest about it... your voices here and your votes certainly suggest you're anti-choice as long as D's lead you there.
Yup, I would say the ever rightward decline of the USA (both parties) on this issue and many others will continue unabated.

DBI--and beyond... When people lose track of the real world, and many seem to be somewhere in Lala land, when they vote for single issue causes, the kooks move in and make a killing. Imagine being in business today and trying to plan for next week's payroll. What will the rates be? If the government does not know, how can the payroll clerk? Those crazies in Washington including the Arkansas delegation are indefensible.

What fun, in a sad way, you must have watching weasels weasel.
You know it takes a twisted cult-mind to be so obsessed with a fetus in the womb and after an infant is born they line up to be the first to deny the infant medical care and food assistance and then beat their chests about how bravely they voted against Medicaid expansion to cover the child.

Until you begin to look in the mirror and act as disgusted with your own as those other guys.... you are playing into their hands.

My only question in re PP not providing abortion services is - why the hell not!!! WHat do we have to do to make that option readily available. The first answer is not attack Repubicans, but attack/reject Democrats!

"The “working poor” ... are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone else."---Barbara Ehrenreich, "Nickel and Dimed"

Does Arkansas PlannedParenthood even do abortion referrals? I seem to recall reading that they did not. Someone update me on this.

What we have here in Arkansas is a bunch of snakes in control of the lege.

"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"---Matthew 23:33. Jesus was speaking to the scribes and Pharisees.

Slightly off topic, but up until Obamacare passed, Hobby Lobby provided medical insurance which included reproductive services. No protests from them about their religious sensibilities being offended in those days. Maroons and vipers seem to be in control of their corporate policies.

He is actually a 1000 times worse. He no longer represents me but even worse, I got re-districted to Missy Irwin whio thinks she is dumb enough and outrageous enough in her stupidity that she should be governor.
Are there ANY sane Republicans left in this state?
