UPDATE!

"Your job is safe, the sale/merger/acquistion will only affect some other plant somewhere else." Yeah right!

Over my career I have seen scores of releases by companies assuring all concerned, employees and customers, that "nothing will change" blah blah blah.

Normally the place trudges along in limbo for 11 to 18 months, then BOOM! The pinkslips fly.

louie, if you own a food processor, you can make your own peanut butter easily. Just buy organic peanuts and whirl them in the processor. Takes about 5 minutes and tastes great. It doesn't separate either. You can make almond butter this way, too, but you have to add a little oil to the nuts.

Personally, I cannot wait to see the new product lines...no longer will we have to choose only among Creamy, Natural, and Crunchy..we will soon have PB Squishy with little raisin-sized chunks of Spam in the spread. And they might go the other way and add a little PB to the Spam line...Brown Spam might look absolutely delicious. Commercials could be a throwback to the Groove Tube (gotta be 60+ yrs old to know what that movie was, kids!)
Alberto Culver (think Alberto Vo5 shampoo) in Jonesboro was acquired by Unilever about 12to 18 months ago) lucky for me Unilever closed a Illinois plant and expanded Jonesboro.

When international conglomerates start acquiring and such, the local "little people" can only hang on and hope for the best.

I am reminded of an old African proverb, when elephants scuffle, grass dies!

No amount of TIF money, infrastructure improvements, training funding etc can slow the fleeing of international conglomerates.

The acquiring/merging of international or national conglomerates simply PROVES that cuting taxes will not create a single job.

These corporations have so much money sitting around that they would rather buy a completely nonrelated company than upgrade existing plants. (Meat place buys peanut butter place).

The ONLY thiing that creates a job is "a customer, willing to buy with the ability to pay."

Hormel has a billion sitting around and is now spending 3/4 billion to buy into a peanut producer instead of expanding a meat place it owns or opening a new one.

Cut Hormel's taxes and it will still not expand meat, it will buy up something else. (No new jobs)

Supply side is complete BS.

Only DEMAND will create jobs!

At least the bastardized phrase "Job Creator" has been abandoned for the most part. Instead of it being a verb (action word) the term "Job Creator" became an adjective describing income level.

A big surge in merger/acquisitions will continue and Bain Capital types scarf up companies, strip off and sell little pieces and then dump the rest drowning in debt to slowly die.

A couple Yale Business grads (Mitt) or Warton Business grads (Trump) will make a 100 million, and 30 year workers will dumped into unemployment rolls "entitled" to gov't insurance.

Private gets the Profit and Public gets the Loss.
