Saline, you and Cotton were strangely quiet when your great leader, George 2, was destroying the country by crashing revenue to reward his rich friends (you?) while spending money like a drunk sailor. Cotton was part of that spending on a useless, unneeded war against someone who did NOTHING to attack us. The issue, get the revenuwe back to the level of taxing that existed before Georgie Boy destroyed the country and then let'sd see what President Obama can do by cuttting 40% out of Defense and then we will talk about closing bases all over the south. You should be rewarded for your vote and a lot of out-of-work personnel is your idea of a great time and I agree as long as they come from closed military bases and suppliers. Let's get out of the war business and determine to protect us and our rights and let Germany take care of its needs and Exxon and Shell pay for military to protect their tankers as that is just another oil industry subsidity. Cut all the subsidities and then add an 8% tarrif on all imported goods that wre once manufactured in the US.(too bad wallyworld but you have earned that costby your anti-American attitude).

GLBB, I watched "ABC This Week" yesterday. In my opinion, Cotton seemed uncomfortable in front of the camera. Stephanopolous missed a great opportunity to pin Tall Tom to the wall on his Sandy vote.

Tom Cotton is a Tea Party hero who was one of the brave 67 Republicans who will stand up against wasteful spending in Washington. The sad story of the fiscal cliff is that if taxes are raised then the government will just spend more. Jack Roberts wrote in the Northwest Free Press last year how Milton Friedman showed the problem of government spending and how it expands:
In 1967, three year’s after the Kennedy tax cuts, the Johnson Administration was already running huge deficits thanks to the a combination of Great Society social programs and the Vietnam War. Writing in his regular Newsweek column on August 7, 1967, Friedman expresseded his concern that this would soon lead to higher taxes, using an analysis that would become familiar to his readers over the years:

“.If we adopt such programs, does not fiscal responsibility at least call for imposing taxes to pay for them? The answer is that postwar experience has demonstrated two things. First, that Congress will spend whatever the tax system will raise—plus a little (and recently, a lot) more. Second, that, surprising as it seems, it has proved difficult to get taxes down once they are raised. The special interests created by government spending have proved more potent than the general interest in tax reduction.

“If taxes are raised in order to keep down the deficit, the result is likely to be a higher norm for government spending. Deficits will again mount and the process will be repeated.”

Sure enough, a year later a 10% income tax surcharge was enacted by Congress to cut the deficit and fight inflation. His prediction having been confirmed

The high-water mark for Arkansas not being a moocher state was 1996, so crediting Clinton may or may not be apropos, but that's beside the point. THIS link has Arkansas as being a net recipient every year since 1980. I wish I could find it, but I did see a recent article regarding 2011, and Arkansas was not a net recipient that year.

The many conflicting reports be damned, I think it's safe to say that Arkansas doesn't have a miserable record of mooching, relative to most red states, for the last 20-30 years. We ain't Mississippi; we've been led by sane politicians for the most part, not dirty teabaggers.

**This study apportioned the annual federal deficit racked up during each year in its study between the states, whereas other studies don't.

During the Clinton years, we carried our own. Since the advent of tea party conservatism, with its policy of using government to deliberately redistribute wealth from the middle class to the rich, we have turned into a moocher state.

A 20 year average is meaningless -- in the long run, we're all dead, as they say. Under Bush, while millionaires celebrated and the deficit skytocketed, my middle-class income turned into a fraction of what it was under Clinton.
