I am with ES on this. We've got a right-of-center Democrat in the WH; in the Senate, the news is only slightly better; in the House, despite a 1.5 million vote victory for Dems overall, we've got batshit insane in control.

Perhaps the Republicans are Manchurian-ing us as we type?

"We have yet to see Obama unleashed in his second term"

Lordy, deeb. FISA, NDAA, making Bush tax cuts permanent, keeping cap gains and inheritance taxes horrifically low, while raising low to middle income folks taxes and giving zillions in pork to corporations who pay little to no taxes. While setting up more mini cliffs in our near future... dangling SS and Medicare like raw meat on a hook to the right of republicans. Nominating more madmen to CIA, Sec Def, and no doubt SOS. Meanwhile the human bug splatting, humanitarian bombing and utter terrorization on a global scale, often while arming radical islamists to do so continues unabated.

And that's the short list... as if one of those issues isn't egregious enough. He's done more in the last few weeks than it would have taken Romney Ryan to do/beat in the first two years.

No... Dustin and Pryor Dems need only follow the Clinton/DLC Obama/Third Way path.... out right flank the republicans with NPR "reasonable" speak. That's what goes for calling what Dems do a win.

While Cato makes an excellent point... I would only suggest Dem citizens should be seizing this moment to throw out all their incumbents... offer a real dem of olde, somewhere.... anywhere.

At the rate the GOP is still going even after getting thumped good nationally in the last election it's possible no Republican, even in dim dim Arkansas will be elected or reelected in 2014. It's all been going great for Democrats since before the last election, seems like Republicans can't do anything right. Of course they haven't been doing anything right for at least a decade, but the last election has brought that to the attention of the dim dim American voters.

We have yet to see Obama Unleashed in his 2nd term. He's showing signs of having grown some weighty testicles in the last month of the campaign, today's news says 2 US banks will be forced to pay 18 billion for their many sins, not enough, but a good start....finally a good start. I'm hoping today is the day filibuster reform hits like a pile of bricks. Nothing will change for the better as long as a single Republican can hold up the business of Congress by threatening a "don't have to do nothing" filibuster.

American government has to change over the next 4 years or Mad Max World will come to stay. A look at our 6 representatives to Congress from both parties shows Arkansas is part of the problem, not the solution. Our Democrats are right-wing, our Republicans are righter, far righter. We haven't sent anyone to DC worth a damn since Bumpers retired. But by god we helped Blanche Lincoln score a great lobbyist job, didn't we?

My prayer, if I prayed, would be that good progressive candidates would seep out of the Arkansas woodwork between now and 2014. No one representing us now deserves another term and they sure don't deserve to be elected to higher office. We need to find a new Beebe not a new Huckabee and no one, who has announced their intension to run for our governor so far, is worth a damn. We've planted plenty of seeds for our own misery already, let's not plant more.

Seriously, Nate Bell! Are you seriously "hungering" for a run at Congress? Seriously?

On the down side, weirder things have happened here in Arkansas and other states as well.

One has only to look as far as Florida where they elected Allen West, who was recently ousted after one term of utter lunacy and ignorance. Or Bachmann in Minnesota. Michele has been embarrassing her state on a national level since 2007 and on the local level since she moved there in 1988.
