JohnQ - I don't think this is getting blown out of proportion, nor is a "federal case" being made of it. This is nothing more than the people of Arkansas seeking some response - any response - from Dusty McD as to why we should even consider paying attention to this morally bankrupt "leader".

I guess the other option is for Ol' Dusty to say nothing, and let the good people of Arkansas simply forget about him. But somehow I think Ol' Dusty would have a problem with that. He made his bed ... Let him lie in it.

I don't know how many of you remember the speach Senator Dale Bumpers gave to close on behalf of President Clinton during the President's impreachment trial. Below is an excerpt from the Senator's speach that day that in my opinion speaks to the situation involving General McDaniel at present.

"But after all of those years and $50 million of Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, you name it -- nothing, nothing -- the president was found guilty of nothing, official or personal. You're here today because the president suffered a terrible moral lapse, a marital infidelity. Not a breach of the public trust, not a crime against society, the two things Hamilton talked about in Federalist Paper No. 65 -- I recommend it to you before you vote -- but it was a breach of his marriage vows. It was a breach of his family trust. It is a sex scandal. H.L. Mencken said one time, "When you hear somebody say, 'This is not about money,' it's about money." And when you hear somebody say, "This is not about sex," it's about sex."

I don't know what it is about this puritanical, gotcha society that we live in that people just can't seem to get enough of this kind of dirty laundry. You would think that both people and the press would have better use of their time. Obviously McDaniel suffered a moral lapse of judgment regarding his marriage, but is it really the federal case some are making it out to be?

What will good ole Dusty have to say for himself? I broke the sacred vow I took when I married this wife after the wife I took the same sacred vow divorced me for breaking it. Of course, that does not include the sacred oath I took when becoming AG (i.e., in our eyes "almost gone" but in his eyes "aspiring to be governor.") Got to give him credit for having cutzpah, not much sense, but cutzpah.

If the media advising company was any good at what they claim, they would have run the press conference through when everybody was busy and distracted. (Fridays afternoon are good, before 3 day weekend better)

They missed that opportunity in the last couple weeks.

By mid-December when thoughts are toward shopping, cooking, ditching work and travel.
PLUS we end up with a media consuming mass murder of innocents PLUS a local blizzard.

Man, any media savy pol would have had him a full press conference and then when the press bitched about the timing McDaniel could have said he wanted to get all the info out very quickly and wanted to come clean right away.

Then it would have gotten hardly any notice and would now be old news, or at least they could then accuse anyone that questioned that of dredging up old history and looking for anything for character assasination.

"Credentialed" media? I recall the Three Stooges needed to get into a press conference. (the real ones, not the Teaparty Confederacy Loving crapheads whom Max mistakenly named as 3 stooges) . They displayed purloined vending machine levers, holding them up as they marched past security saying 'Press" "Press" but alas poor Curly's button said "Pull" and the jig was up. So crash the party but mind the forged credentials carefully. I have my Ron Burgundy ID badge clipped to my lapel...

Wright Strategies is a euphemism for professional b^11$hitter.

Here's the Wright Strategies bullet (crap) point.

"(We) will bring battle-tested and proven communications methods to your campaign. Working one-on-one with candidates, our staff will help flesh out your personal narratives and convert your key values into campaign themes. This includes working with the candidate and campaign staff to oversee message development and training – and then executing those lessons into concrete paid, earned, and new media steps.

Simply put, you know where you want to go and we will put you on the path to get there."

I guess McDaniel wants to go to da Guvnuh's mansion and Isaac Zac Wright has a fool-proof plan to get him there. The thought of McDaniel, Hutchinson, Ross and the current list of candidates for the state's top elected position is a clear sign that Arkansas is one step closer to hell.
