If you go out and buy 5 AK-47's, just how do you plan on using them all at the same time. And forget that "protect myself from the bad ol' government" shit as the government has something bigger than you have, no matter how big the gun you buy.

Just cuddle up with them at night and feel good all over! I understand that a 30-shot magazine makes on great tenderized venison steaks or roasts. Of course, if it takes 30 shots to bring down a deer, you would be better off olding teh gun by the barrel and using it as a club.

Bill Clinton sold more guns than $50 million worth of ads could have sold. When his assault rifle ban was going into effect Saturday Night specials were flying off the shelves. Likewise Obama-Biden is the best friend Smith & Wesson has had in ages. 1968 gun registration law produced the same selling frenzy.

Many do not recall the "sugar scare" when Fidel took over Cuba in the late 50s. It was a selling frenzy. One groc store owner, a friend of family, had pallets stacked high with sugar in the back of his store and a truckload of it on order. Prices had doubled in less than a month.

It's American merchants who never let a good crisis go to waste.

"...Gun Appreciation Day, a nationwide effort to highlight gun ownership scheduled for the weekend of President Obama’s second inauguration. ..."

This obsession with guns and the paranoid belief in those jack-booted government thugs planning to break down the door any minute to confiscate every gun (where ARE those guys, anyway? they're LATE!) has evolved to the point of fetishism. Gun "Appreciation," I imagine, can take the form of lovingly stroking and polishing the barrel of any MAN's firearm while watching Wayne LaPierre's bogus press conference. The obscenity of all this is not lost on many, but certainly is lost on too many others, as there seems to be no major shift in public opinion.

We had a gunshow in Sprangdale last weekend. I didn't make it but there was a top-of-the-fold photo in the local paper (i.e., the wrapper for the D-G) that showed some WHITE MEN lined up to get into the event.

I thought about protesting but all that would have accomplished would have been to have ME on the front page--and a target for all those first-person shooters.

The firing of a weapon is a violent act. The explosive material that propels a projectile is violent by nature. The violence is often justified, but even when a gun is used for target practice the firing of a weapon creates violence. The NRA supports violence, plain and simple. They say they're all about safety, but isn't 'safe violence' an oxymoron? Violence has its place, I guess, but the NRA's position against any restraints on gun violence does not have the support of the public and yet they dig in. I have guns. I've qualified more than once as a marksman. I'm not anti gun. The NRA's insistence that we need more gun violence and that there be no restraints on that violence isn't about the Second Amendment. Look at all the stories this past week about gun shows and sales. Who profits from gun violence. Weapons makers gotta love Obama. He makes it so easy to frighten the masses into buying more and bigger weapons NOW, before 'they' take away your right to unrestrained violence. It's not the National Rifle Association, it's the National Violence Support Lobby.

Should/could the legislature request a complete audit/Dept of Justice investigation of UAMS? It appears that the health and wealth of its administrators and consultants takes on much more importance than the health of Arkansas. I mean a car allowance when your salary is 300K? REALLY. If we can spend millions on consultants to tell us how to more efficiently run our healthcare I think a good start would be to have the common sense to stop S*** like this.
77 people die EACH DAY from Alcohol related deaths, 10's of thousands die each year and countless countless others including children are hurt by drunks. You could save majority of these deaths by a simple law that bans the sale of Alcohol after 9pm. But you won't do that will you, you love your wine. What is it called when you ignore a huge problem because it benefits you and instead focus on a small one? You know how many kids die and are scarred for life due to Alcohol?

The only smart gun law that makes any type of sense, statistically, is banning handgun sales to males under the age of 25. Majority of gun crime is by males under the age of 25. But even then, few gun crime is done with new guns. I do agree, private gun sales should require background checks. Most gun shops only charge $30.

So what is the deal with Goodhand. Even before she had taken another job they had agreed to a year of salary after her departure. Is that type of gratitude typical for folks in her position or is she special? The letters I read made it sound like it was more like a bonus than "pay for work" and the consulting title was tacked on later to make it seem legit.

If it is not severance or gratitude is it hush money? Sex or financial? I wish it was the former but the latter seems more likely.

Maybe she is going to Tennessee to set up a lottery. Seems like a good gig with lots of shenanigans.
