When then asked what he would do when the poor had all the money, he added, "I steal from the rich and give to the poor, minus 10% for handling".

Turns out the NRA doesn't think all violent video games are equal. One month to the day after the Sandy Hook massacre, they released an app called "NRA: Practice Range". Its got nifty coffins as targets with the areas of the head and heart in red so you can hone your lethal skills. Do they not have a PR person on retainer to stop them?
Charles Pierce would be comedy gold if the issues were not so important. He takes Retired General, former Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, former Secretary of State (and apparently a modern day Rip Van Winkle who has been snoozing for the last 50 years) Colin Powell to the woodshed.

Powell has noticed that the GOP has "a dark — a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the Party."

Powell declares himself a Reagan Republican. Y'all remember Reagan, don't you? He's the guy who launched a campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Y'all remember what happened there, don't you. Y'all remember the names Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner, don't you. I think Powell has a memory problem. Or he can't hold unpleasant facts in his head---they just waft away into the ether in service of I don't know what ideology he holds dear.
I'm listening to President Obama. Wall Street should be self-interested in pressuring Congress not to blow up the economy by not raising the debt ceiling and by shutting down the government. The problem is they have no sway over the tea party lunatics. The tea party lunatics are funded by billionaire lunatics who have enough money to ride out any storm their lunatic minions cause.

American Family Radio, isn't that the station/show where the big evangelical leader told listeners that fathers should take their boys into the shower and show the youngins their thang so the child would have something to aspire towards? Yes it was. Who was that fruitcake?

"On June 24, 2008, Dobson publicly criticized statements made by U.S. Presidential candidate Barack Obama in Obama's 2006 "Call to Renewal" address. Dobson stated that Obama was "distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view." On October 23, 2008, Dobson published a "Letter from 2012 in Obama's America" that proposed that an Obama presidency would lead to: mandated homosexual teachings across all schools; the banning of firearms in entire states; the end of the Boy Scouts, home schooling, Christian school groups, Christian adoption agencies, and talk radio; pornography on prime-time and daytime television; mandatory bonuses for gay soldiers; terrorist attacks across America; the nuclear bombing of Tel Aviv; the conquering of most of Eastern Europe by Russia; the end of health care for Americans over 80; out-of-control gasoline prices; and complete economic disaster in the United States, among other catastrophes.
....
Dobson said: "I cannot, and will not, vote for Senator John McCain, as a matter of conscience," and indicated that he would refrain from voting altogether were McCain to become the Republican candidate, echoing other conservative commentators' concerns about the Senator's conservatism. He endorsed Mike Huckabee for president. After McCain selected a pro-life candidate, Sarah Palin, as his running mate, Dobson said that he was more enthusiastic in his support for the Republican ticket.
On a national level not many things went right for me in the last election. The Republicans totally blew it when it came to the Senate. I am hoping they do better in 2014. At least Ted Cruz got elected in 2012 into the Senate for Texas. He reminds me a lot of Rand Paul. I enjoy hearing Senator Cruz often on American Family Radio. He is a true conservative. http://thedailyhatch.org/2013/01/14/is-sen…

Could Burris be the exception that proves the rule in that old saw "Early to bed, early to rise...."?

He's definitely not wise. He's a tad chubby to be healthy. I don't know about wealthy, but I'm sure he has aspirations in that department.

Oh, wait. Davy Carter is the Speaker. He at least looks healthy. Wise and wealthy is yet to be decided. I'm getting a sinking feeling about "wise".

But Burris would have to be up early, too, if he noted the lights on in that corner office.

Is it good that some of our legislators are bright-eyed and bush-tailed? That is yet to be decided.

The Ark. Legislature meets. We are in for another tour de farce. Expect more laws punishing poor people, women, minorities, non-fundamentalists, working people and the environment. On their "benevolent" side, they'll promote more wealthcare for the rich and corporations and churchers.
