Regards cell phones in schools: It is already a local decision regarding students' possession and use during school hours. Nothing was ever mandated by state regards to that matter if I remember.

This issue is the matter of a driver using a cell phone while in a moving car in a school zone. Got one for smoking in a car on campus as well.

Rather have them smoking than texting or talking on a cell phone.

So is this a Republican blow for personal freedom or just another of their blows for stupidity?

==Is there a state law that bans cell phones on public school campuses? Hmmmm. Didn't know that. If so, does that include public colleges and universities?==

There is a ban, but it isn't enforced. It was when I was in school. Now it's a joke, and parents want their kids able to call if something goes horribly wrong. That's understandable. The original reason was that drug dealers used phones to make deals during the day at school. Only applies to K-12.

==I imagine that the cell phone ban is for drivers. But, in the land of Tea Party, what are a few dead children compared to the freedom to text in a school zone?==

Texting bans are actually more dangerous than having no ban in place.
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/texting_ban_ups_crashes_dCxHru3R1zQTnyjkbxbD2K

We can only speculate as to the reason but I personally think it is because people now take their eyes off the road to text with the phones in their laps rather than openly texting with the phone at steering wheel level.

We already have charges against this. It's called reckless and unsafe driving. Enforce the current laws.

Dad explained, the only way to keep gov't out of our private school choice was to not take any money or tax credits from the gov't.
Once the gov't gives money or a tax credit then they have CONTROL. They get you used to the money/cedit then you are hooked.

The more dead kids in this country, whether it be from denying them health care, from running over them while yakking to one's mistress, or simply from putting eleven .223 bullets in a first-grader, the freer conservatives feel they are.

Yes, Silver, the old saying was the GA should meet 2 days every 60 years because of the pattern of stupid laws enacted when they meet. And....Fisher and others had a field day with their editorial cartoons of hiding the women and children when the state legislators arrived in Little Rock for their sessions.
