stopthebs, would you rather we go back to the kind of prisons we had during the Faubus administration? Cummins was the worst in the nation with it's very own 'potter's field' for over 200 recaptured escapees. The people inside had absolutely no recourse against injustice - none. Some people might say that they deserved what they got, but what about the wrongly convicted?

What people don't realize about the toilet paper case, which the inmate represented himself pro se, is that the defense for the Faulkner county jail paid for by the citizens of that county was over $10,000. This was paid for thru the county defense fund with the Ark Assoc of Counties who is represented by Rainwater Holt and Sexton at $200an hour and their lawyers drug this case on for two years! And they represent half the counties in the state on hundreds of worthless cases just like this and have for 20 years. They bill the AAC $1.5 MILLION a year on all these cases by inmates who represent themselves for free. Talk about a money making machine this firm has going on. Tax payers in these counties should realize every five minutes when they see a Rainwater Holt and Sexton commercial on tv that their tax dollars are paying for these commercials.

Once again, NB, thank you sooo much for your interest! I can report that all three of the HardHeadedDogs are doing just fine tonight, curled up sleeping at my feet. I'll be sure to give them a treat in your honor just as soon as they wake up.

eL, many, many years ago some friends of ours (3 guys from California) stopped in for a few days to visit as they were traveling around the country. One of the first things they wanted to tell us about was what they called the 'Alpine Slide' they'd experienced while in Tennessee. It was apparently one of the biggest adrenaline rushes they'd ever had, which was really saying something considering some of the adrenaline-rushing things these guys were in to. It was hilarious to listen to them describe the ride as they showed us all the 'road rash' damage to their clothes and bodies. The sleeve on one guy's jacket was actually scorched around the edges of the huge hole caused when his arm rubbed against the side of the chute.
Can't remember exactly where they were, perhaps Chattanooga, and have no idea if the slide is still there. But obviously it was an extremely dangerous thing to do!

"Five national championship rings in one family and they have 6 more years of college left with the two youngest brothers still playing football for Bama. What family am I talking about?"

This is for ol' salty water, hisownself, Saline.

Ooooh, I know bait when I see it and you couldn't wait to set the trap, right there with the 1st post on the open line!

I'm somewhat of a newcomer here so I'll be tonight's sacrificial lamb. I'll take the bait. You do know about sacrificial lambs, right?

I'll admit, the link leads to a Saline wet dream. It's got it all: God, Jesus Christ, Tim Tebow, Fellowship Bible Church, Redneck football games, Foo'ball as a life lesson. White foo'ball players walkin' on for Notre Dame, even a subtle discounting of Alabama's black running backs (runnin' behind that fine white, Christian center).

Yet, it still needs a little spicing up, in my opinion, to make your dreams even better tonight.

How 'bout comin' up with a good Christian Fantasy Football Team? It's my idea so I'll get it started.

Head Coach: God Almighty, an obvious choice.
Quarterback: Jesus Christ, with T. Tebow backing Him up.
There's 10 more positions on offense. I can't have all the fun but I'd recommend using 10 of the disciples as the other starters. Good Christian Republicans can say who plays where, but just between you and me, I'd rule out Judas and doubting Thomas as starters. They might not be all that dependable. Paul is your obvious water boy--he's had a lot of experience in that role.

Like I said, I can't do everything for you guys--I'm just here to get the ol' ball rollin', so to speak. Y'all can name your defensive team and you might change the rules enough to allow everybody on the team to be armed as well.

I don't know though. Wet dreams, if too intense, can lead to heart attacks. So be careful.

So I know the second part of my prediction with North Little Rock City Hall Good Ole' Boys Club hasn't come true yet.. BUT tomorrow night they will be voting to raise the salary for the position of Director for NLR electric from 102,000 to 145,000 in order to attract a worthy replacement. Sounds like Pat's buddies are sweetening his new job for him....

Just read the 8th Circuit's toilet paper ruling.

It'd be too easy to make jokes.

What's not funny is yet another example of the adolescent, determinedly mean-spirited Arkansas legal and penal system in action, once more in the news.

Everything across the board: from the tragic example of Arkansas's spectacularly incompetent, hateful and stupid police / judicial conduct with the WM3 to this bratty toilet-paper policy and judicial ruling.

Why, exactly, would any sane adult--much less a high-tech business--ever want to relocate to such a state?

The scenery?

Hate to break it to y'all, but there are far, far more beautiful locales from sea to shining sea, populated and governed by grownups.

Unbelievable.

My condolences to the mother who died in today's accident. I pray that her son will be okay. I live in the neighborhood that is by this lake. When I left for work this morning at 6:40 am, I noticed black ice on the road and I detoured around it. There is a stop sign at the intersection of Capitol Hill Boulevard, Cooper Orbit Road, and Rushmore Avenue. I see people run this stop sign all the time. I don't know the circumstances of how this accident happened, but my guess is that the driver ran the stop sign, hit the black ice, and lost control of her vehicle. It was 26 degrees when I left this morning and probably not much warmer when this accident happened.

Stash, my sister-in-law's grandmother lost her arm below the elbow in a hunting accident in the thirties. She was literally hunting to feed her family. She was in the mountains on horseback with her nephew and she dropped her rifle when getting back on her horse. The gun went off and shattered her arm from her wrist to her elbow. She wrapped the nephew's shirt around the bloody stump, got back on the horse and rode several miles back to the ranch and was taken to the hospital in the back of a pickup. She insisted on being taken to the local high school first so she could reassure her daughter she would be all right. She continued to hunt with one arm until well into her seventies.

These modern day gun totin' pussies couldn't hold a candle to her in being "self-sustaining" and able to take care of herself and her children---her husband was a no-good and had been gone for several years.

That negligent discharge link reminded me of when I had to have hand surgery - not gun related. But on the next bed in the prep room was a fellow holding his finger in the air and saying "I can't believe I am so stupid" over and over. Turns out he put his finger on the end of a rifle and pulled the trigger. The surgeon needed to remove a bit of bone so he could get enough skin to pull over the end of the finger.

Few of us realize the historical and cultural significance of Maria Argyropoulina,
the Greek niece of Byzantine Emperor Basil II, who went to Venice for her marriage to Giovanni, son of the Pietro Orseolo II, the Doge of Venice in 1004.

But she, like gays and abortion doctors of today, was thoroughly vilified by the prevailing religion and one of it's prevailing loudmouths after Maria succumbed to the plague two years later.

Said Saint Peter Damian:"...this woman’s vanity was hateful to Almighty God; and so, unmistakably, did He take his revenge. For He raised over her the sword of His divine justice, so that her whole body did putrefy and all her limbs began to wither.”

Her vanity? Maria introduced forks to the Italian court.

Like gays causing hurricanes and omitting god results in school shootings, these shitheads don't change in a thousand years and resent most change which comes their way.
They were very successful until we destroyed their commisary---the buffalo.
Meanwhile, back in Idaho, another group plans to build The Citadel.
