Saline/Ev, maybe these job creation figures for every president from George W. Bush back to Harry S. Truman will help further your education:

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/01/09/…

Given the source, I hope you won't question that the data is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Now, sort the column headed "Jobs created per year in office" until the arrow points up (click on that header once or twice), meaning the president whose administration created the most jobs per year is at the top and the president whose administration created the least jobs per year is at the bottom. Oh, dear! That can't be right, because the top 3 are all members of the same major political party. Okay, let's look at the worst performers. Oh no, that's even worse since the 4 worst job creating presidents are all members of the other major political party. Never mind, let's just make up our own "Koch Facts" so we don't upset folks.

Not bad for a fatherless boy from the poorest little town I've ever set foot in. Thanks for the link! I've not had the chance to watch Gov. Beebe speak at length, he does a good job. At times in his speech I detected a little of LBJ's speaking style, the kind of speech old Lyndon made when he really really wanted something....like his War on Poverty which got ruined by his War on North Vietnam.

I thank the Arkansas Republicans for being polite enough to clap in the appropriate places in Beebe's speech. It helps me forget for a moment that some of them are batshit crazy. I hope all Arkansas state legislators will keep an eye on Congress who art in DC so they might learn how not to act. Our state is too small to survive bad governing. All through this Great Recession Arkansas has done well mostly thanks to our ancient 1866 state constitution that doesn't allow us to spend more than we take in. May it forever stay in place to protect us from both political parties.

I want equal rights, good jobs, a clean and safe environment, good affordable health care, greater opportunities for our children to get a college education, more honest government, safer streets and plenty of food for not only my family but for Saline's family, even for Steven E...for everyone I don't know or care about and those not born yet. I don't know a single person I hope will suffer. I dislike no one enough to wish them to be 2nd class citizens.

If there was a pill to remove greed, racism, bigotry, misogyny, partisan political agendas, gun nuttery and religious zealotry from our governing bodies we wouldn't have to die to get to heaven, we'd be living it here and now. Of course that's a fantasy, but we should all make it our goal in life.

Saline, I just knew you were a big Bill Clinton fan. I know you must have voted for him in every election and was singin' his praises to high heaven back in the day. Not.

The difference is that now you have the hindsight of results.

Might it be possible that 15 years hence that you might alter your view of Obama after the fact?

Everbody now thinks that Harry Truman was one of our better presidents--at least in the top 5-- yet, at the time he left office, he had the lowest public opinion rating in history, a low which has lasted up 'til this day. Maybe, we all could take a lesson from that.

Back in Clinton's day, Saline, there were rational people in the US House. Now all the inmates of the mental hospitals that Ray-Gun released on the street have been elected to Congress and each see themselves as mini-Presidents when they don't have the intelligent level to be a pooper-scooper.

I wish we had a better federal government to work with than we have now. That is because our Democratic President does not want to work with a Republican House like Clinton did in the 1990's. Clinton was pragmatic and Obama is not.

Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute has rightly noted, "...the economy enjoyed big employment increases during the Reagan and Clinton years, but it also revealed anemic data for the Obama years.

That’s not a surprise since Reagan was the most pro-freedom President since World War II and Clinton almost surely comes in second place.

Yes, Clinton did raise tax rates in his first year, but he put together a very strong record in subsequent years. He was particularly good about restraining the burden of government spending and overall economic freedom expanded during his reign.

He was no Reagan, to be sure, and the anti-government Congress that took power after the 1994 elections may deserve much of the credit for the good news during the Clinton years. Regardless, we had good economic performance during that period – unlike what we’ve seen during the Obama years."
