How I long for people like McClellan, Fulbright, Mills, Bumpers, Rockefeller, Pryor (David), and even Clinton. We actually had people who were able to swim upstream enough to convince the ignorant that voting against their own interests was actually stupid. People who understood the common good and were unwilling to sell themselves to the highest bidder. Sure, none of those guys were perfect. Fulbright signed the Southern Manifesto, Mills ended badly, Clinton was Clinton, but I'd rather have a flawed leader who ultimately worked for the common good, than a saint who sells themselves to the highest paying corporation.

I guess this wishing for the good old days means I'm getting old. What happened to real statesmen/women? Instead of all the pandering to rich corporations.
