This is a really good article:

the NRA’s six degrees of stupidity

"And, by the way, 92% of Americans believe that all potential gun buyers should be subject to background checks. 92% of Americans don’t agree an anything! 92% of Americans can’t agree on objective, proven scientific findings. 92% of Americans can’t agree that kittens are adorable. 92% of Americans don’t agree that 4 year-olds shouldn’t be in beauty pageants. Yet 92% of them agree on this. Hell, 88% of gun owners agree!! And yet…the NRA is going to fight this tooth and nail."
Oh, they all think they are going to be the LONE DEFENDER upholding Justice and defeating the nefarious evils that lurk behind every shadow. In reality, you and your 30,100,1000 round clip will get overrun and beat down. You will get tired. You will get hungry. You will eventually run out of ammo. Then they got you. I don't know who you think 'they' are though. I just know you know that 'they' are coming after you. I heard on the AM radio leaving Hot Springs today that you need to get your emergency food supply NOW. Their voices were so smooth, white, and calming as they talked about, but did not outright say, the coming 'war'. The price was only a few hundred dollars.

Pinhed, using your narrow logic all gun shows are dangerous. Us gun nuts have little patience with folks being asinine with guns. We know there are sick folks like you that live for the trauma. How about something as dangerous as a machine gun shoot. Twice a year in Kentucky and once a year in Wyandotte, OK. How many accidents? None.

National Rifle Association Receives Millions of Dollars From Gun Industry "Corporate Partners" New VPC Report Reveals

"The mutually dependent nature of the National Rifle Association and the gun industry explains the NRA’s unwillingness to compromise on even the most limited controls over firearms or related products (such as restrictions on high-capacity ammunition magazines)....The NRA claims that its positions are driven solely by a concern for the interests of gun owners, never mentioning its own financial stake in protecting the profits of its gun industry patrons."
There are those about, for AKs and ARs, though they are cumbersome and the magazines for those are expensive. The cheapest AR 100rd mags I saw, before Barky, were over two hundred dollars.

NRA Members Agree: More Gun Regulation Makes Sense
"The poll, which sampled 945 gun owners around the country and had a margin of error of +/- 3, also found broad support gun-owners for the principle that “support for 2nd Amendment rights goes hand-in-hand with keeping illegal guns out of the hands of criminals.” In fact, more NRA members (87 percent) supported the statement than non-NRA members (83 percent)."
I am surprised that the NRAS isn't making a bid for that air base in Fort Smith and those planes that are being taken out of service. I understand that they can fire a 1000 rounds a minute and they don't have a measley 20 or 100 cartridge magazine. What a way to tenderize that deer on the hoof or whatever all of these nuts need all their guns for. BTW, I understand that during deer seasomn, the final numbers this year will be in excess of 30,000 vs 2. Sometimes the deer win.

Isn't it amazing, after reading all the comments. The 'Pro' adherents in justifying their need for a gun(s), assault weapon(s) and ultra high capacity magazine(s) are actually promoting the proliferation that increases the likelihood of 'the bad guys' having the increased and easier access to the weapons that makes the 'Pro' adherents feel threatened in the first place. . . .

I wonder how the arguments will shift once the data and records of firearms deaths, injuries, etc, long suppressed by NRA lobbying, are collected and exposed to the general public.

Comparing the number of people a gun kills to some other form of demise holds no water with me. To me nothing can indiscrimantely kill as large a number of people in the hands of an average person than a firearm - especially one that has many many rounds and can discharge them very quickly.

The only reason I see for such artillery is to kill people and lots of them. Its unsafe to collect them and expect them to never fall into the wrong hands. Somewhere a limit has to be drawn.

The NRA is concerned that if they bend to the assault weapons ban or the amount of ammo one can hold, then the feds will come after the rest of their guns.

I see it more from a safety issue. If we dont draw the line here, then how long before the NRA lobbies for private citizens to collect shoulder mounted SAMs?

Thank you, CB. I gave your response an immediate "like", as I understand, is poisonous to a troll.
Thank you again, respecting me by spelling my name correctly which is not commonly done. For the record my name is pronounced with the accent on the FIRST syllable, like you pronounce Ms. Olsen from the coffee commercials of old. Putting the accent on the second syllable deeply hurts my feelings.

And speaking of spelling. What's up with the bull%@*? Do you not know how to spell this word or do you just have delicate sensibilities? If it's a spelling issue, see below. If you are too delicate you could try manning up, learn to cuss like other men. I guess you're a man. Gender questions seem rampant around here.
In one post, a person will call Obama an incompetent buffoon, and two posts later, the same person will claim that he is so powerful and influential that he can force stupid people to attend gun shows to perpetrate/ participate in accidental shootings!

HHW, I have said to myself a dozen times this week, "I'm so lucky I don't live in fear." Certainly, I am well aware of the dangers all around us, at work, in the neighborhood, everywhere. We take reasonable steps and safety precautions, but they don't rule our lives.

Every thread, every Facebook post, every discussion on this issue always boils down to this: the nuts are terrified. Of everything. Of Obama. Of logic. Of other people. More than likely, of each other.

I hate guns. I've shot at cans with a bb gun and hit em a few times. I will not touch any other kind and refuse to be around them. I'm doing the world a favor. Just look at this week: gun show accidents, school security guard leaves loaded weapon in restroom, teenage boy kills family. The list goes on.

Yes, it's scary out there. No, you don't have to live in fear. I'd conjure up some sympathy for them if they're weren't so stinking hateful about it.

      DBI,
It is so good to see you again. I have been gone a long time. I was sick. By the way Jesus wore an "alb" according to the preacher who wore one at my mother's funeral. Now I might need 1000 rounds to hit somebody, but i dont need but one to shoot them in the balls and also scare the hell out of them, as I have been told by my dear sons.

by the way, for an update, I have been sick but am fine now and off prednisone. Son #1 called me when I was in the hospital in ICU for the first time in five years. Prayers are answered. Son #2 working at Bordino's in Fateville and saving $$ to go back to college next year and finish his double-major degree, then get an MBA. He makes too much $$ to get good Pell grants; he should live with me. Son #1 talking to me made me happy again. But I will still suffer no fools gladly.

I hate to say it, DBI, but your friends are no longer the same people that y'all have known and loved for so long. They have devolved into a couple of fearful, angry people who are obsessed with all the imaginary things they're hearing on hate radio and teevee. And after all, that's the purpose of that kind of propaganda. Keep 'em scared and stupid and you can convince them of anything.

Good grief, can you just imagine how awful it must be to live every day thinking that you must be ready to dive behind the sofa at any given moment to 'defend' your McMansion from a militarized government that's come to take your guns, let alone fantasizing that you might actually have a chance at prevailing in that kind of confrontation. That's just not sane thinking.

You and I have watched someone spiraling into their own kind of insanity thinking the government was out to get him and declaring himself the President of the Republic. There's really not that much difference between his crazy talk and theirs, and sadly, there's not much short of psychiatric care that can help any them once they've reached that level.
The scariest part of it all is that there are so many of them out there who all think the same way.

I dont want a gun like that, but I do have a gun under my pillow and I know how to shoot it, as a woman living alone. I just dont sleep on a magazine clip. Need for those, my azz.
