In honor of the thought provoking, well-reasoned, fact filled and practical debate of the various merits of the numerous proposals recently presented in this forum I’d like to offer the following from that storehouse of resplendent journalism, The Onion: “Gorilla Sales Skyrocket After Latest Gorilla Attack”

“After seeing yet another deranged gorilla just burst into a public place and start killing people, I decided I need to make sure something like that never happens to me,” said 34-year-old Atlanta resident Nick Keller, shortly after purchasing a 350-pound mountain gorilla from his local gorilla store. “It just gives me peace of mind knowing that if I’m ever in that situation, I won’t have to just watch helplessly as my torso is ripped in half and my face is chewed off. I’ll be able to use my gorilla to defend myself.”
http://www.theonion.com/articles/gorilla-s…
Poor transition perhaps, I went to see Durango Unchained and we sat behind an older white couple, which I hought was interesting in light of the N-wordfest about to ensue. Sure enough, less than ten minutes in, drivin' miss daisy and her hubby left the theater.
The theater was mixed about 50/50 white and black and I feel everyone was on the same footing. This movie is tarentino extreme, a wild ride!

Being reminded how shitty blacks were treated for the majority of our "exceptional" history takes me back and reminds me the deep rooted harm created by our ancestors before me, some not so far back. I do not know how to make things right, fix the ills of some that are broken, angry or just don't care. However, I must continue to turn the cheek, listen to those that want to help and offer some slight hope, that could take a hundred years.
So be it!

Yeah Doc, I didn't think about that one. Us great thinkers need to get together to prevent future problems in all walks of life, a think tank kind of thing. Thinking outside the box is good but I'm thinking nowhere near the box. These ideas don't just pop into my head unbidden. The box thing came from observing my cat who is workin' on being my ex-cat although, he's smart enough. I'm thinking he knows what I want but is trying to train me into turnin' everything over to him... We'll see...

      Coolbreeze,
On one account I might agree with you. White Hillcrest liberals don't like to have it insinuated that it's easy to be liberal while you're surrounded by other white liberals.

They don't live in challenged neighborhoods in southwest Little Rock or in The Quapaw Quarter "because of crime." Of course that's code for "because people who aren't white walk the streets and hit me up for money." If some were forced to live or work in those mostly non white neighborhoods (as I do) they'd have to confront the fact that they may not be so liberal after all.

Spunkrat: Still a real liberal after all these years...

Coolbreeze, you know that is a meaningless comparison , it cannot be judged. So why dont you just say what you mean. You liked Central a whole lot better when it was all white. There, doesnt honesty feel refreshing, even if it just reveals you to be a cracker?

Hm. I wonder if any of the NBC coverage discussed the segregation that continues at Central High School today? You know, rich white kids in the AP programs and poor kids in the "regular" thug classes?

Remember, all you local supporters of Little Rock Central High: In front of the world, the only legacy you have outside of this city is one of racism--you ain't all that.

And so it goes...

      Oh Sound -

I would put the entire class of 1957 LRCH (minus 9) up against the 2012/13 class of LRCH as far as basic skills are concerned Eg. English, Math, Band, etc. and I bet they would absolutely blow the 2012/13 LRCH class out of the water....I mean it wouldn't even be close.

I esp. bet the 1957/58 LRCH band was a thousand times better than what they have today...just a guess.

Sound - I wonder what the disciplinary records at LRCH were 1957/58 compared to 2012/13....any guesses???

Wow you guys are so 7th grade. You know one generalization that many conservatives say about stuffy liberals is that when they get challenged they simply get mad - really really mad and start in with the personal attacks rather than trying to convince their opponent in a quality debate that they are right they simply take their football and go home.

You folks exemplify that generalization to a tee. E Gads! Perhaps you should have more sex! - loosen up man!

What are the demographics and general locals here? - I am guessing LR Hillcrest/Heights, white, downtown LR, and over 50...the old money of Little Rock. eLwood I think you are in the almost exclusively white NWA. Must me nice to preach from the hill in you rich mansion in some gated suburb. You probably have never even been in LR.

And Couldn't you need to go back to Richard Dixon's class at LRU dear!
