The whole philosophy of tort reform is misleading. Citizens have been trained to believe that frivolous lawsuits are the reason health care is failing, consumer goods are expensive and insurance rates are higher. The reality, which can be discovered with a minimal amount of effort, is that true frivolous lawsuits don't make it very far in the system and don't begin to account for the sharp increases in cost and decline in quality.

All one has to do is look at the increasing profit margins of the large insurers and corporations pushing tort reform to understand they aren't struggling for survival due to lawsuits, as they want us to believe. They are, in fact, thriving.

Every state that has passed serious tort reform has seen insurance rates and price indexes for consumers continue to rise, while profit margins increase for corporations.

Citizen pretty well summed it up. Having rich lawyers fight it out with rich corporations doesn't really grab the attention of us poor folks. The ATLA lawyers are not interested in righting wrongs unless there is a class action and a million-dollar attorney's fee involved. The idea of ATLA and the Hutchinsons in bed together does somewhat strain one's credulity, though. Someone should ask ASA what he thinks about it. The last I heard, his law firm still represented the rich corporations; however, for all practical purposes, Asa doesn't practice law anymore; he practices lobbying.

Eddie Joe Williams was on the winning end of a frivolous [sp] law suit against his former employer, Union Pacific Railroad, over a bogus injury he allegedly suffered while on duty.
Dennis clearly can't read comprehensively. This bill was written by and for trial attorneys. I'm withholding judgment until I find time to read it.

This could be an interesting fight.

Rich people that don't want to be sued against rich people that want to sue.

Although there are more people that don't want to be sued BUT there are more attorneys (that get rich by suing) in the legislature.

Thank you, you stupid Republican voters. You idiots are too stupid to know that you are making it even harder to sue people or companies who screw you over. And these people and companies will be screwing you even more and even harder once they get it so you can't sue them. Idiots.
