Do you notice how much our new House and Senate leadership (?) reminds one of the first year of our SoS Mark Martin who got elected to a position and then had to have an off-site conference at taxpayer expense to find out what the SoS did when he could have just read the state Constitution or asked any of the employees who were there when he took over.

You should at least have some idea of what the job entails before you run for it or you have absolutely no reason to want to get rid of term limits because staff has more knowledge. Hell, of course they have more knowledge. They actually know what they are doing and the question is why did you run for a job if you have no idea why you want to be in it. Talk about on-the-job training-that's for Mickey D's, not for running(?) a state.

Whatever happened to identifying the problem first and then finding a solution to solve said problem. Sounds like they don't want to do the work, just throw out solutions and see which one's stick. Although solutions that smell to high heaven with un/intended consequences. Maybe they are trying to create problems to solve. Our taxpayer dollars at work.

      Davy Carter

3% cap on budget growth.

"In theory, that is something as a conservative that I agree with"

Please explain yourself.

Since when did conservatives agree with setting some arbitrary number and then letting gov't run on cruise control? (I have never seen a business do something that ignorant or arrogant!)

I don't believe I ever saw a THINKING conservative espouse such an aborrogation of duty to their constituents.

Why 3%? Why not 2%? Why not some other number you just pull out of thin air?

The voters had candidates that claimed to be grownup enough to weigh the circumstances and make the hard (grownup) decisions. The candidates claimed to have leadership ideas that qualified them to LEAD.

The voters then voted and now you tell us that we don't need no stinkin' legislators, just let us plug in a number and our children's children's children can live with the consequences.

If a Speaker of the Arkansas House 100 years ago had thought this was a sane idea we would still be increasing buggy whip budgets 3% a year. Of course Arkansas would not have any money for computers or penicillin but by goodness we would still increase money for cord wood to heat the Capitol building.

We expected grownups and got sissy frat boys.
