In the PM north bound is a 1/2 mile long parking lot.

On occasion I approach from the north and just plan on sitting and waiting for many minutes. Maybe bring a Sudoku puzzle while I wait.
The current design was done 90 years back. This bridge needs to be done for 90 years forward.
One clarification. I was never a sponsor on this ordinance but I did initially commit to Judge Villines that I could live with it since there was no new tax proposed and we wouldn't be borrowing money.

After much thought, research and discussion later I just can't get around spending $20 million to add to a bridge that the State will provide at no extra cost to Pulaski County taxpayers.
One of the many reasons I moved to Arkansas was because I thought it would not have as severe problems with water shortages as other choices might. Now I'm starting to think there is something in the water here that makes you stupid.

Given last night's bruising discussion on the bridge, at least the new colors were settled on- black and blue. Still to come is the name.

Oh, and several new JPs repeated Villines sales job to them by saying new industries would be attracted to central Arkansas by this new attraction. New industries! And that tourists will come from all across the land to see 'America's Bridge'. And that a special endowment fund will be established with 'America's Bridge' royalties that will not only pay off the additional $20 million cost, but make every central Arkansan rich beyond their wildest dreams. Okay, Villines didn't actually say that last part, but it wouldn't have been a surprise if that had been part of his sales pitch. Sheesh!

As long as the bridge layout provides a clear line of fire from one end to the other -- unlike the current Main Street bridge -- then the design is adequate. When Congress manages to repeal Obama's unconstitutional ban of RPGs and wire-guided missiles, our infrastructure needs to be ready.
