YES! True economic development rests on an uninfringed second amendment. Companies prefer states where employees are free to carry weapons of self-defense and where the populace is constantly ready to overthrow a tyrannical government.

Thanks, Max for being involved in this lawsuit, filing it was the right things to do, I can see that from way over here on the left side of the state.

At one time when towns were trying to become cities a Chamber of Commerce might have made some sense and probably did help new manufacturers locate in a growing city. But since that era is over and we can't make it here any more, too many chambers are spending their time dabbling in politics that helps their 1%er masters avoid taxes and keep the working folks working for chicken feed.

Lord knows the Fort Baptist Chamber isn't pulling in big plants any more. It's not cause they're lazy....it's cause manufacturing is zooming off our soil in search of abuse-able workers forced to work for 33 cents per hour. Our towns and cities aren't growing...can't grow, so LR and NLR's money flows to their chambers for who knows what? Nothing that will really benefit your cities but certainly benefits the entrenched rich who it appears have all the benefits they need and then some.

Until the next Erie Canal is invented or valuable metals needed for iPhone production is found beneath our soil, there's not much use for a Chamber of Commerce. They should slash their staff and budget, rent out part of their office space and hunker down like the rest of us to await better times. Lord knows we don't need them to help land more thrift shops or tattoo parlors...the only things that seem to open up in vacant buildings these days.

That 200,000 per year would be better spent for bullet-proof vests for 1st graders.

This will have strong implications for the Chamber of Welfare in Chickenopolis as well.

The Chickenopolis Chamber gets in excess of $300,000 annually using a combo of different grants. Their results are very negligible. Last year they listed businesses that had been open for over a year as evidence of them attracting new bidness.

I'm not a lawyer but I suspect the answer is somewhere in between - Arts Center, City Beautiful, CATA, and the rest of the quasi-public entities, if the lawsuit is successful, would remain qualified for contracts/subsidies. Downtown Partnership, First Tee, etc - all the strictly private non-profits (which, for the record, I suspect are more forthcoming with their information) would surely no longer qualify. While they 'ease the burden of government' they are strictly private non-profits. This decision would change the face of interaction with chambers throughout the state. They are largely dinosaurs, but for whatever reason, cities regardless of size, feel compelled to subsidize/host them
